Dynomax designs exhaust system for SEMA charity Camaro

MONROE, Mich. (Sept. 29, 2009) — Tenneco Inc.’s DynoMax Performance Exhaust unit has designed and engineered a complete DynoMax exhaust system for the WD-40/SEMA Cares Chevrolet Camaro that will be on display Nov. 3-6 at the upcoming Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

DynoMax is among several aftermarket companies to participate in the build for WD-40 Co. and SEMA Cares, the trade group’s charity arm.

The 2010 Camaro will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show and Auction, Jan. 18-24, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Proceeds from the sale will go to Childhelp, Scottsdale, Ariz., and The Victory Junction Gang Camp, Randleman, N.C. Both are children’s charities.

DynoMax partnered with David Chappelle of Chappelle’s Exhaust and Kustom, El Cajon, Calif., and Troy Downey of APE Wraps, Coronado, Calif., to design the system specifically for the WD-40/SEMA project car. Tenneco said it plans to use elements of the DynoMax design in production for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, due to roll off the assembly line later this year.

“The chance to participate in such a dramatic build for the SEMA Show, and have it auctioned to benefit these organizations, is a win-win for us at DynoMax,” said Joe Pase, director of performance brands at Tenneco.

“We built this system specifically for the SEMA Show. It’s loud, it’s powerful and it looks awesome,” Mr. Pase continued. “You’ll definitely see key components of this build in our production system when it’s released later this year.”

The exhaust system includes 2.5-inch all stainless steel, mandrel bent piping and a power-improving DynoMax Ultra Flo X muffler that utilizes a 3-inch internal x-pipe balance tube to promote scavenging and equalize flow.

In addition to DynoMax, Tenneco makes and markets OE and aftermarket emission control and ride control products and systems under the Monroe, Walker, Gillet and Clevite Elastomer brands.
