You won't get rich off my ass! I don't lie and I don't make promises that I can't keep, can you say the same?
AS PROMISED...... Here are some photos of the V6 muffler cut open. I have the auto so I don't know if the manual is any different or not. It's pretty nasty inside guys. I pulled about a garbage bag full of this insulation or whatever it is out of the big chamber. I hadn't really noticed till today when I had these things cut off, that the black crap that is in the tailpipes is leaking out of the little drain hole in the bottom of the stock mufflers. It is running down the bottom of them and I even have a little spot on my garage floor where the car sits at night.

KGA,
Thanks for the post and sharing with us- what really lurks in those large cans! As noted not pretty, but explains why they weigh more than SS mufflers- that bag of insulation you removed. Now the question is how much better would the flow be if LS3 SS mufflers were put on to keep the stock appearance, given what we have now seen? The LS3 Mufflers are more of a straight thru design, are these chamber like, that came off? Would SS muffler sound too loud for V6 or might it add a nice deeper flowing tone? When my arrive going to try it...or perhaps someone has by now? thanks J |

Dear God! that is the Omen of exhaust cans . Lol one pic almost looked like there was a dead racoon in it.
Well never know about the LS3 exhaut until someone tries it, I wouldve done it by now but no one local seems to have any for me (Booo Canadians Boooo lol) so whoever has there LS3 cans and is debating on whether to do the mod or not in fear of raspiness, for the love of Camaro5, install them and take vids. We need to find out whether we should go L99 or LS3 thanks for posting those pics btw! |

Those are L99
we still need vids of the LS3 so we can all collectively decide on which one is best |

agreed!
After seeing stock v6 muffler pictures and all that packing and then confirming LS3 is straight through type and has NO packing, the sound change will likely be big. Not sure if will be better or worse on our v6 engine. J |
