How much does it add to your top speed on the oval track?

Depends on which end of the track I'm on. On one end I have a head wind and on the other end I have a tail wind. Head wind, minus 2 mph, tail wind plus 5.

The paint adds weight but it also fills in the lettering thus reducing drag....so, it's a wash....

I used to make sure the BF Goodrich Radial T/As on my cars had blindingly white letters. Scrubbed them and bleached them; they come with the raised white letters.

What a pain in the ass!

Agree; back in the late '70s had them on my '71 Monte Carlo SS ... spent more time every weekend scrubbing & bleaching them then I did on any other part of detailing the car

I guess all I can add is do not paint your tires before they are mounted, or you will likely be re-doing it.

If you must.
