To fix or not to fix...
My baby got her first dent today.
Stupidly, I let my father drive her on our way to have breakfast. One would think that after driving his entire life, he would be able to park the car, but no cigar. He pulled into the spot too far, too quickly and ran right up into the concrete curb. The bottom plastic is bent, the right front end is scratched up, and the right front corner bent out near the tire. First and last time i let him drive my car!! I spent 3 hours buffing the scratches and I managed to bend the dent back in so none of it is even noticeable now. It just kills me that i know it's there!! It makes me sick! The question is, do I take her in and get it professionally repaired, or do I quit being dramatic and leave it be?? |

No, fix it!! I'd be devastated, so don't feel like you're overreacting... He's gonna cover at least part of it right?

You would think so, right?? But no. He decided it was my fault because I picked a restaurant with a bad parking lot. I am so angry! He knows I'm in love with my car. Grrr.

At the very least have it looked at to see what it would cost and make sure nothing else was damaged.

That is messed up!!! Not even offer? wow... I have had a similar problem, i finnaly took up the courage to let me cousin drive my car because her boyfriend was coming back from iraq to visit, and wanted to pick him up in it.. i thought wow that would be cool on the recieving end..
Considering she would only be the 3rd person i let drive it... Well my car has vertical doors, and told her the rules etc.. well somehow or someone left it open in the air too long, and wind caught it and bent my fender alittle, Now i need to replace it.. but i didnt tell her to break her heart, so im making the good with the bad and getting aftermarket fenders = p.. I wish you luck and hope you find your answer soon, i agree fix it... it kills me when my car is not flawless... |

I wouldn't worry about it. as long as its not noticeable. You're the only one thats going to know that it's there. I have scratches from a huge pothole that i hit here in Indiana one night that i didn't see, but I got over it. And I was always taught to forgive and forget. I mean sure everybody loves their Camaro and would like it to be in 100% condition forever, but lets face it. No car will be in 100% condition not even from the factory. Your dad is family and can't be replaced. It was an accident. Life is too short to worry about little things like this. I've learned that the hard way seeing that I lost my mom when I was 13.

It's a car, plain and simple. Have you ever made a mistake before?
IMO, cherish the moments you have with your dad, they don't last forever. Yea, he could have handled it a little different but in the end who cares? When he's gone, you will look at that spot and remember the times... |
