The cab driver is being charged for about 4 counts...& the guy(not Dead) that got ran over too is being charged.

Let me guess...alcohol was involved? Brilliant on all counts.
The sounds of "gun fire" were actually the kicks to the bodywork of the cab from one of the assailants. Seems like all of them were trying for a Darwin award and failed.

If people were surrounding my car, pounding on the windows, jumping on the car and threatening me...I'd probably try to drive off, and would drive over someone standing in front of the car after revving the engine and threatening to move (give as much warning to get out of the way as I can). If I felt threatened, I'd drive off as well...but call police from a distance from the incident to report it.
I don't know if the cab driver did that...but that would be the only fault I could give...is that he may not have contacted police after the incident.
