Z/28 availability dwindling - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

CarGurus only has 20 (all used) listed nationwide and AutoTrader has 1 new @ ~ $63k and 45 used, all of which are ~$44k or higher. Will be interesting to see if prices stabilize and/or even start climbing.

I am sure there are others for sale, but these are 2 of the largest online auto sales sites. Thus, am thinking they're a good sample size.

I had been looking for about a month. I considered waiting until fall when prices typically fall further. But I was afraid they may hide for the season and I would be forced to settle on one. I feel confident in both my particular find and the market rising sooner rather than later. Less than 2k produced is a great number

Get one while you can. My last car was a C6 ZR1 and the Z/28 is hands down a more raw/fun car to own. I've never, ever had this much fun just driving a car. To the store, running around mountain roads, it doesn't matter....it's just pure driving bliss!

I'm curious to hear opinions as to the future values of a Z/28 that gets driven say 5k miles a year. I have a feeling and that is all it is that a lot of Z/28s were bought and tucked away. That said do you guys think that a 25-35k mile Z/28 will be dirt cheap in a few years??

In a hypothetical situation where the 5th gen Z has reached pinnacle collect-ability, sure a low mile car will be worth a few more. But as the years have shown, it will eventually come down to collectors just plain WANTING the car, regardless of miles. (I have my doubts on this type of stuff).

That said, there is a 20k+ mile car for sale on Cargurus, they still want ~40k even for it. Seems like 40k was/is the basement.

Valuations will depend on gen 6Z happening,or not. LT these are going to be hard to come by in pristine form. 1800 is not a whole lot,90% have several thousand miles already. If you're buying to drive the snot out of it there will always be plenty that have been previously enjoyed and will be substantially less than the ultra low mile/cream puff examples. JMHO

Also Z/28s are getting spread around the world now. Until recently I thought it was just Derek and myself with cars in the UK, but with Chris Harris buying one and another for sale in Scotland I think we must be upto at least 4 possibly 5 in UK.

There's also one in Luxembourg. One in Australia. One for sale in France. At least one modified (supercharged) that I know of in Germany..

Prices are higher on this side of the Atlantic as you'd expect reflecting the reduced availability and cost of importation / registration..

I'm expecting US domestic prices to stabilise and start to climb soon.

I've had my car for nearly 2 years and still encounter people snapping pics, slowing next to me to ask about it, getting thumbs up, etc. IMO, that's a fairly good indication that it'll be highly sought after in years to come. Also, most don't have a clue about the things that make it truly special (LS7, DSSVs, CCBs, super car ass kicking abilities, etc.). Add all of the to the equation and the prospects only get better.

I guess the way I look at it is when Muhammad Ali was boxing and he held the title and then he lost it he retired himself but when he was still around people still looked at him as the champ. You know we can all sit around and try to come up with reasons why we love our car more than the newer ones but , alright GM built a car that is faster around the track than our Z28! the truth is our car is what started all of this track time lap speeds etc.ect.war. Atleast i know GM went all out when they came back with the Z28. They gave Al amd his team a blank check and they built something , for at that period in time, no other american car manufacturers had done other than fords Boss 302,and they smoked them. So now we all own alil of it ourselves. To me, thats enough for me to be satisfied for along time.Not too eloquent with words here But i do know how i feel just owning one. This is as close to 1967-68-69 as you can get in a modern-day automobile.
