good(ish) news on ABL

I just got back from my dealer today, to change some things on my order. Since he also has a Camaro on order, he's very knowledgeable on the car (for once my dealer is NOT an idiot!). While I was in his office, we were talking about the car, and GM in general. I brought up the Ambient Lighting issue, and he had said it was the first he had heard of the problem. We talked a little bit about it, when another rep poked his head in and said he overheard us talking about ambient lighting.

He went on to tell me a couple weeks ago he got a ride in a 2LT being driven by a GM exec that he knows. He said the panels were not cloth, like the other interiors we've seen, but instead the ABL plastic. He said each panel was a different color. The driver door was blue, the dash panels were red, and the passenger door was orange. He also said the car had a laptop plugged into its (I assume) OBDII port for testing. This has me feeling like they are still testing it, but it is in the works, and on some cars.

He's a salesman!

Just kidding Scotty!

ABL had no effect on me. Have it or not, doesn't matter. It is encouraging though.

Scotty, btw, I put 1000.00 down (refundable) the other dealer was asking 500.00 down and had taken 10 of 13. The dealer asking 1000.00 deposit had only taken 2, so I'm 3 of 15. Can you beleive that? At this late a date? And one was ordered Bumble Bee style to keep at the dealer and sell later. They put someones name on it to run as a pre-order.

I SEEN THAT! So the dealer pulled a NO NO.....hmmmmm

ABL - There will be an announcment in about two weeks regarding the status - and it won't be "dealership speculation".

If there is an announcement...and lets say there are choices to be made...will those of us with pulled orders be able to change something if we need to?

OH man, this is torture. I feel like Dustin Hoffman in the dentist chair in that movie where the guy torturing him is digging tools deeper and deeper into the bottom of his teeth and all he can do is wait till its over

Promising news for sure, it's not a real killer issue for me either, just another bonus IMO

MARATHON MAN!!! I know what you mean!! LOL!!

This could be good news, but either way I just want my car now. ABL is becoming a less and less of a concern in the bigger picture. I think once the novelty wears off it could make the car feel a little tacky or even dare I say it a cheap flashy import!

and BTW irpq11, CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rather have them forget the constraint on the v6s and build them right off the bat then i do care about ABL anymore.
I love ABL, im die-hard for it, but im sure everyone would rather have their car now then wait another couple of monthes for ABL, i just hope they fix it for the 2SSs coming down the line from the beginning
