Best cloth to wash a car with
What should I use to actually wash my car with? Do you use microfiber cloths to wash the car? Are their any good hand mits to use? I use to just use a t-shirt so I need a little help.
And whats the best cloth to clean glass with? |

Good pad
Good mitt Best thing for windows is newspaper, and it's practically free. If you really want to spend money though, they do make microfiber glass cloths.

Check the web sites for Adams Polishes ( adamspolishes.com) the video section as well as Autogeeks.net, the tips and tricks section. Detailers domain is another. (see links in sticky of this section)
Please don't take offense to my next statement, but if your asking this question, you probably have allot more questions that these sites can really help with. You'll get varying opinions about what's better and why you should product A or product B, but I've personally found these sites extremely helpful in sorting it all out. The guys at Adams and Detailers Domain are regular participants on this forum and they are extremely helpful. The pictures and videos they make available are invaluable, especially to the novice detailer. Good luck and lean on the forum when you need help.

For the upper 2/3rds of the vehicle I use a Merino Wool Wash Mitt
For the lower 1/3rd I use a synthetic wool wash pad Process is just as important as product in this case... even a really high quality wash mitt/pad is going to leave your paint swirled up if you don't use good technique. 2 bucket washing with grit guards is essential. I also segment the vehicle like that as the lower sections of the car will always have more 'gunk' on them. The synthetic pads are very soft, but also cheaper than the real wool so when they pick up a bit of tar or go thru a few washes and start to get tired I just toss them and start with a new one. |
