K&N Intake Question

Not sure if this is in the right spot, but i am Doing it myself so it feels so right!
Recently Bought a lightly used K&N 69-4519tp Air intake system
when installing I ran into an issue, the install instructions say

"On 2014 and later vehicles, it will be necessary to cut the crank case vent tube as shown. Then
connect the cut section of tube to the oil filler cap.
Attach the supplied hose to the to the trimmed
section of crank case vent tube"

I skipped this step and just cut a fuel hose line to length and connected it directly to the K&N system and the engine (the place where crank case vent tube goes?)... will this cause a problem? If anyone needs more details let me know. I just didn't know if this would be a problem, the fuel line is on there snug.

hello ghost…. I installed my K&N myself and I asked the same questions. It didn't feel right to cut the original one but I did anyways. Someone told me it will be just fine. What I did on the safe side was buy a clamp and tighten it to where it connects so it will never fall of even though I think it will be fine.
