SYNTHETIC OIL ?

I have read alot of comments about very quick oil changes from hundreds of miles to 1500,and then using synthetic oil.My question is,are they shipped with pure synthetic now ? I thought normally it was a good idea to wait 7500 miles before changing to synthetic because of the rings...or is this old school now, just looking for sum good direction here.

The Camaro SS uses only Mobil 1, which is all-synthetic. It came with it. I am not sure about the LTs. But the SS even has "Mobil 1" right on the oil fill cap. The dealer will only change it using Mobil 1. It's what they use for the Corvettes as well. I just had an initial oil change at 400 miles. It helps remove pieces of metal and deposits from the new engine. Most people won't wait until the 5K mile mark.

BTW, might want to change up your avatar info, says "2110". I hope Camaro is around then though!

The V8 comes with Mobil1 from the factory. The V6 comes with dino oil from the factory. With my V6, I changed at 900 with dino. I changed again at 1,500 and put in Mobil1.

The engiune in the CTS comes with Mobil 1, the same engine in the camaro (3.6 DI) comes with mineral (dino) oil. So I don't think it matters when or if you switch to synthetic.

We had our oil changed at 1100 miles and the dealer insisted on putting in Mobil 1, which was fine with me, we have a 2SS by the way, and yes it does say it right on the oil cap. I also run nothing but synthetic in my Harley as well.

On my 2LT I changed oil at 900 miles with dino then switched to Mobil 1 at 3,000.

I was in a fog when I wrote this. I'ts tough to get old.
The mind is the "second" thing to go.

First change was at 1,400 with dino.
Second change was 2,900 with mobil1.

I changed it at 1500 miles. I was surprised at how black it was. I didn't see any metal fragments...but I probably wouldn't be able to anyway. I used Canola oil instead of motor oil as I heard that it has bettter viscosity for the winter. We'll see.
