I'm on the more traditional inverted parabola plan, I hope. Meaning that:
--When I was in my late teens and early 20s, I had few bills and money to burn (and boy howdy, did I!) --Late 20s to mid-30s came marriage, kids, realization that I was behind the power curve on saving for retirement --mid-30s (now) - mid-50s (ideally) catching up on retirement savings projections, paying for kids' extra-curricular activities, housing, taxes, pushing kids out of house (ha) etc. --post-50s (ideally) all sorts of spare income to burn again, spending the kids' inheritance. I do know a few perpetual bachelors who have all sorts of spare income to play into their vehicles. They're great guys in many ways. To each one's own, we all have highs and lows from the choices we make. Until we figure out how to install halo lighting on our kids, we all have to pick between kids or cars I figure. Ha!

We wore Joker masks and I was the last one standing. Seriously, OP, one at a time. Themes are great, just don't overextend yourself. Impulse buying will kill you, and credit cards can eat you alive these days. I saved for mine (well most of them) and paid cash. When I needed to use the plastic I paid that off before even thinking of getting another mod.

I guess I'm lucky in the wife department. Don't have to ask or beg because she loves this car as much as I do. I spent 3 years in the Middle East in stupid heat and humidity to get my car. I've had it two years now, just over 4K miles on it and just barely did my engine mods. Spent a lot of time deciding which route I was taking. I like the NA idea and right now that makes me happy. Spent the first $3K on LT's, and all new exhaust right to the polished tips. The next $6K went into the motor. We did it piece at a time and saved.
Although now I'm going to pace myself and start adding cosmetics one piece at a time. I just ordered the AAC blue halo's and fogs plus a paint matched RX catch can. Baby steps....

All I can say is make a list. Don't have to brake the bank, but you can break them down by price vs preferred & go from there. Going on 3 yrs to get mine done, 1 or 2 mods at a time.

Personally for me when the Camaro was announced in 2006 I started saving...I figured it would be about 45000.00 so that is how much I saved for the car....When the car arrived it was a little less than 36k so I had some mod money already saved...but of course I have went over that but I save for what I want then get it.
It is nice to be able to do it all at once but unless your rich it is very hard without getting over-extended...slow and steady wins the race, LOL |

How many times do you eat out in a week? Do you smoke? How much? Do you drink? How much? Do you drink pop/soda? How much? Get coffee on way to work/school?
These are a few areas that people do not realize they waste money. Let's say you eat lunch out 5 times a week x average meal $6 = $30 per week or $120 per month Cigarettes = $5 per pack (not sure since I don't smoke) let's say 5 packs per week = $25 per week or $100 per month Alcohol = $30 per week (gestimating average bar tab for 1 night since I don't drink) = $120 per month Drink tap water (free) instead of 1 pop/soda per day saves $42 per month Coffee house = $3 per day x 5 days a week = $15 per week or $60 per month. Every month you could have $442 to spend on mods ($5,304 per year).

a coin jar and i save my doller bills.
after i come home every day i empty my pockets and all my quarters and dimes , nickels and pennys go in a jar/jug and then i take what doller bills i have and put them in a bank bag last time i cashed in i had over 300 doller bills and 250 dollers in coins. So i got my obx headers only took about a month or so . I also try to give myself like 20 to 50 bucks out of my weekly payday to put back for things i want for my car or my bike
