Leak?
Hi,
So I noticed some fluid around my rear drivers side rim today. I wiped the rim off but noticed it was also wet on the inside of the rim. Any idea what this could be?

Damn, I hope not. Would this be covered under the drivetrain part of the warranty?

Its not axle fluid. Its on the wheel side so it's either Brake fluid or the shock fluid is leaking out of that shock.

Any idea if this is covered under "powertrain warranty"? Anyone?

Doesn't hurt to take it in to have it looked at regardless.

Yep, I'll get it looked at, but my brother-in-law is an ex-GM mechanic, so I'll have him look at it first. If its covered, then I'll take it to the dealership.
Someone mentioned it might be the caliper that's leaking?

How do your brakes feel? That is my initial thought...brake fluid. Definitely not diff fluid. Or do you have a CV boot leaking? Depending on the temperature, it can appear oily if grease is leaking. If it was a strut leaking that bad, that corner would be quite bouncy.

hrm, haven't really noticed anything out of the ordinary. I just got back from vacation on Friday, and drove it a lot on the weekend (cuz I missed it lol).
I texted my brother-in-law, and he suggests not driving it until I get it checked too! grrrrrrr

It is the rubber boot that covers the constant velocity joints at either end of the axle. Typically they will sling grease all over the wheel and inner fender, but I have seen them with pin holes which can look like a small leak.
