Why can't he come up with a cool car on his own? Maybe you better think about that.

I am with you on this one. The BF should asked his parent to rent him a Camaro for the event. WTH, is he a wuss or what?

Agreed. My friend's dad let him take his M5 to prom which was cool but nobody else knew about it besides us.

And nobody else knew about that 0-110 MPH run on a back road either except us. Which is exactly why your dad shouldn't let you take the Camaro.

It's just a bad idea. Kids will be kids, even if they are seniors in high school. I'm a sophomore in college and I still can't resist having some fun with a car at times.

This is why I bought a manual

"Can I drive?"
"Can you drive a stick?"
"....no...."
"Then no."

Because how many teenagers actually ever learn to drive a manual these days?

My decision would be NO.
A Camaro SS with that big horsepower is like a loaded weapon on a teenager.
Think of the consequences.

Also, as a Dad, I think of my kids before any vehicle and because I love them that much I wouldn't want them to get hurt just because they want to ride a trendy vehicle.
Your time will come and you too will experience the excitement that your dad got when he received his vehicle.

Need to be 25 or 26 to rent a sports car. Good idea though. Maybe when Grad School has their prom she can rent one then.

If you trust your daughter in what she says and give her the rules..its a car! Drive it..
I know not the popular opinion but I agree. Let her drive it

haha thats soo true! i STILL can't drive a stick! :(

As for the daughter...

i'm in agreement with everyone else, as much as i hate to say it, ive been in your shoes asking daddy to borrow his car and his saying no. It hurts and its sad but it really is for your own good. the ONE time my dad let me borrow his car to "just go to the store.. real quick" that turned into a stop by my friends house, speeding down a back road and going to the store that was 25 miles away. yeah i was a good kid (still am IMO) but once we get behind the wheel of a cool car and get around our friends, all the promises we made before we left go straight out the window. if it were my car i wouldn't let you borrow it, mostly because i remember what i was like when i was a senior in HS and all the stuff my parents didn't know about...
