We have a Dairy Days parade here every June and I could see that happening. They select Miss Dairy Day and I swear this is done by seeing which contestant can pull a plow the furthest.

Turn off your Phone, or let voicemail get it and never call back. Problem solved.

I did a parade in my 05 vette. Hope you have a huge clutch pedal leg because you will need it for the feathering, pushing in, letting off, and general constant pumping of the clutch. My leg was like jello after a 2 mile parade.

I've done a good handfull of July 4th parades in my '69 (which is a manual trans). When it was over I was ready to be done but that was just as much about the heat as it was the clutch. If you let pople sit on the back make sure to put some towels down in and on top of the seat.

My recommendation....
From the beginning of the parade, get the car moving from a stop using second gear (not first)... Then drive as slowly as second gear will allow without lugging uncomfortably (don't let it start bucking). Keep enough distance in front of you that you can absorb most slowdowns without downshifting to first or clutching in/braking to minimize wear and tear on your left leg. You'll be fine... By the way... The V8 has more than enough torque in second to launch easily from that gear. Not sure how easy it would go in the V6.

I dont think it can be done. Cars were never ever used in parades until the automatic transmission was invented.

Did a Christmas parade in florida in 2012 with my manual. My leg got a little tired over the 45 minute drive. The fun was worth it. I didn't smell any clutch burning or have any problems. I have been stuck on I4 in Orlando traffic for over an hour before with it and it was worse than the parade.

Definitely rent an auto vert, your own color if possible, get the insurance and all will be covered.

Do like the others have said, do not rev high or lug it. Feather the clutch to get a slow roll from idle or just above and let your car go as far as possible before going to let out the clutch again. It can be done but be ready.

That is some funny, honest, and educational feedback. I think my favorite was "don't answer the phone."
It is settled, no parades for me.
