it doesnt have electric assist. Only the 2012 ZL1 had electronic steering. no other model in 2012 had electronic anything as far as steering.

JCunningham is right, it comes with "regular" steering, not electronic. I have tremendous 2012 SS and just looked under the hood to confirm never bothered to check on this until now!

Well under my I had to have the alignment done at my GM garage because they had to "rezero" the electronic steering assist from what they told me. I guess I need to look around on this

Is your FE4 something you added later on, or newer than 2012?

The information I have is that the 2012 SS coupe received the FE4, but the SS convert retained the FE3.

I have a 2012 45th SS convert and from what I understand, this is an FE3 car.

I might as well ask again, does anyone know why the convert did not get the FE4?

look under the trunk carpet to see if it says FE3 or FE4. in the 2012 sales brochier is says FE4 for coupe. maybe the vert wasn't stiff enough yet for the FE4

2012 had a thinner rear view mirror, not like the frame less ones in 2013, and not as bulged as the 2010-2011.

2013's had mylink, 2012 did not.

Steering wheel changed in 2012 also

Gauges cluster is a bit more sleek

Tpms sensors in tires require a reset tool instead of the relearn system in the car or letting air out for 10+ seconds to reactivate.

I also believe the unlock button was added to the door in 2012, I'm not sure if this was done in 2011 or not though.

And I'm not sure if this was just an LT vs SS difference, but in the fog light button was removed in 2012 I believe, I'm basing this off the 2010 LT having it and our 2012 SS does not.

I'm just taking a guess here, and it's not based on anything I read, was told or anything and maybe interpreted as a question with guidance, but the convertible came out later, so required more research for performance and rigidy response from customers (meaning, normally convertibles have loosened suspension to make for a smoother ride, the camaro did not, so maybe they were fielding reactions before moving forward with what set up they should go to)... the convertible has extra bracing linking the front shock towers to increase rigid, GM might have felt this r&d needed an extra model year before upgrading.

Changes to 2012 Chevrolet Camaro include the introduction of the 323 horsepower 3.6L direct injection V-6 LFX engine replacing the outgoing V6 engine models, a new FE4 suspension package for SS coupe (retuned front and rear dampers, new solid front (23 mm) and rear (24 mm) stabilizer bars, 20-inch aluminum wheels with P245/45R20 front and P275/40R20 rear tires (from SS)), a revised instrument panel appearance (new instrument graphics and trim), a new steering wheel design with improved ergonomics, a power lift feature for the front passenger seat, a new Rear Vision Package (a rearview camera system and an auto-dimming mirror to the existing Rear Park Assist feature), a new rear spoiler as standard, taillamps from RS appearance package option becomes standard for all vehicles. Crystal Red Tintcoat replaces Red Jewel as an exterior color.
This is mostly correct, but still a little confusing. The biggest difference with the FE4 suspension was the rear sway bar outboard mounting location. FE2 and FE3 suspensions attach to the lower control arm inboard of the lower shock mounts. FE4, FE5, and FE6 suspensions attach to the lower control arm outboard of the lower shock mounts. This makes the rear bar much more effective and reduces understeer.

While it is correct that the FE4 suspension includes 20-inch aluminum wheels with P245/45R20 front and P275/40R20 rear tires, there's absolutely nothing different about them compared to the one's included with the FE3 suspension.

The revised instrument panel appearance was that piece of leather attached to the face of the dash.

The "power Lift" feature was that the passenger seat was now full power, like the driver's seat.

The rear spoiler was not new, just standard on all models.

GM added power door lock switches to the door, in addition to the one in the center of the dash.

As has already been mentioned the heater hoses were moved from the top of the engine to the side of the engine, along the top of the frame rail.

Also not mentioned was that the shark fin was painted body-color on RS models.

That's a non-RS vs RS difference. The RS models don't have fog lights. They have DRL's where the fog lights would be. And since they don't have fog lights, they don't have fog light switches.

If I can ask, since this all new to me, but my '13 SS has no fog light switch like it says in the manual. You can't push the switch in, and it doesn't have the symbol in the middle.

That is correct they are only DRL's, and only come on when you are in gear.
There is a easy mod that involves switching out a wire harness to allow the running lights to act as fogs.

Thank you.

Is it an indication of RS package or anything? Like the aero effects on mine? The dealer was clueless about the car.
