Question on gears without a tune
I just got a supercharger and tune. They forgot to include my gears and are going to correct it. My car has been giving me a message while I'm driving. It says service vehicle soon. The car doesn't have a check engine light, isn't giving me any codes, and is running fine. Is it from the gears? I have GM 3.91's.

Gears shouldn't give a message. I drove for a couple of weeks with no issues with 3.91s.

My gears never caused a code. Dont want to insult intelligence but the engine oil life doesnt need to be reset does it? I know that will trip the "service Vehicle" message. Try checking the WW fluid as well.

When my gears were changed (3.91) an ABS sensor was broken. The car had lights on and I had Firestone diagnose it , repair it, and had the gear installer pay for the work. Just an idea

Sparky SS, eh?
Swapping gears and not changing the tune will result in a Stabitrak light, maybe intermittent. Got to have the tire revolutions per mile close to what it actually it, else the car thinks it's spinning tires (front wheel sensors versus the rears). Super easy fix in the tune.

Correct me if Im wrong but the gear change does not affect the RPMs calibration only the speedo's. I cant see it affecting the stabilitrac as simply changing tire sizes taller or shorter result in the same effect.

Has nothing to do with RPMs calibration with a manual transmission. Gotcha. I was thinking about tire size changing. Gear swap will just say you're going a different speed than you actually are going. No warning bells or whistles. My bad!

I'm getting 391s installed at the beginning of May. My tuner told me just a speedo calibration is all they need to do after the install.

Correct it takes about 10 min, they put the gears you installed in the tune, load it in and then you drive away.

Hopefully I'm getting the tune fixed soon. I did reset the engine oil life the first time this came on, I'll check the WW bottle. I've driven the car for a week and this is still coming on. I have not received any stabilitrack lights or messages. I've also checked it three times this week and there are no codes showing up.
It may not be anything to do with the gears, I just wondered if anyone has seen this?

Yeah was just trying to think of typical "mileage service" things. B/C without a tune your vehicle is accruing mileage your not actually driving

I've had the gears for 2 years but they were in my previous tune. I've only put a couple hundred miles on it since the new tune. I'm still under 10,000 miles.
