CARBON FIBER HOOD INSERT ORDERING PROBLEM?

Hey guys have my ZL1 on order for months now. Today I get the word from the dealer that the CF hood is on restraint.

When I asked what that means the basic answer is as of right now it is an option but not available to order.

I have a long history with both the dealer and my sales person (10+ years) so I know that I am not getting the run around or anything like that.

I am NUMBER 1 on the pre-order for this dealership

I can move forward without the hood and still be #1 or step aside and hope that the hood comes available.

Has anyone else heard about an order problem and what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

P.S. I only have until tomorrow morning to decide =(

If its not out soon then you will get a 2013, IMO get the car with out it and then buy the insert later.

My dealer called and said the exosed hood is on indefinite restraint. They don't know when it will be available. I was getting it to make waxing easier, you can't ge wax on the standard insert. I will tape it off if I need to. I did change my order and it was ordered this morning. Tim

I got the same call this morning. I did the same and changed my order and it went thru today. I feel the same about getting it later. I'll probably wait until the spoiler is an option and then get both at the same time.

My dealer also said production was to start the last week of jan or first week of feb. I think someone else in another thread said the same thing. Just saying I just heard it too.

Subject: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Weave Hood Insert (RPO: B92)

An issue has developed with the 2012 Camaro ZL1 optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Weave Hood Insert (RPO: B92) that requires Chevrolet to place a "zero availability" constraint on this option. The constraint will be in place for this week's 2012 ZL1 exclusive Dealer Order Submission Process (DOSP) cycle (Thursday, January 5 through Tuesday, January 10, 2012).

Your dealership has been identified as one of the dealers receiving 2012 ZL1 allocation during this week's exclusive DOSP cycle. You are requested to immediately review your orders and remove the RPO: B92 from your buildable orders, or submit a 2012 Camaro ZL1 order WITHOUT RPO: B92 (the optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Weave Hood Insert) by Saturday, January 7, 2012.

If you have ordered the optional Dark Gray Roof and Rear Deck Lid Stripe (RPO: DSW) as well, please change the stripe to Black Roof and Rear Deck Lid Stripe (RPO: DSX), or remove the stripe option.

Please understand, if you do not take action, you risk losing your production allocation for this DOSP cycle, or having a pattern order 2012 Camaro ZL1 generated for your dealership.

It is unclear at this time how long this option will remain on constraint. Please monitor the weekly order constraint wire for updates.

We apologize for the inconvenience this unforeseen issue has caused you and your dealership.

B92 is definitely on constraint. Some kind of a problem showed up in the past day or so.

I just got off the phone with my dealer & while the exposed weave carbon fibre extractor element IS on "indefinite restraint" (as of yesterday), it's not a matter of QC... it's supposedly due to a "re-negotiation" on price per unit after the fact (after the initial delivery of parts to complete the car during the initial run of special orders). IF you have a valid order that GM/CHEVY had accepted for build, it is likely that if you had ordered that option, there were enough "parts" available at that time to build the car to your liking. This "restraint" would then apply to orders placed AFTER the 20th of December from my understanding. Unfortunately, that cannot be confirmed until tomorrow or IF CHEVY officially kicks your order out in the meantime.

So, does anyone have any ideas on how this changes previously accepted orders (at 3000) with the B92 option? I just looked on GMConnects and B92 isn't listed there (and never has been) but it is on the order confirmation my dealer sent me.

I am wondering if this is the case. My order was accepted at 3000 on 12/20, so I am hoping I am still OK for the B92 option!
