I want to order them, but don't want the hassle of no powertrain warranty. I don't see how it could affect the engine, driveshaft, trans, etc by replacing rear gears.
oh yeah, by effectively reducing the mechanical load on the driveline, you'll be more inclined to keep your foot in it due to the new-found ease of acceleration, and therefore will start stressing your parts even more because they'll see more sustained "fun time"

i reckon that means no more warranty :(

or at least that's how i could see a worst-case rebuttal coming out...

Get a ZL1 diff, half shafts and hubs about $4,700 retail from GM. All GM parts ergo warranty unchanged. Maybe a slight dent to the wallet.

If Doug's spending $4k+, I know exactly what he'll be buying...

Well...I emailed the shop foreman where I go and asked some questions. He has had quite a few requests to do this and doesn't want the warranty issues either. So, he's going to take his case to his GM guys using my warranty email. he wants a clear, defined answer so he can get to work.

It's not that much more stress...and these axles will do the job just fine. Just want to make sure that if GM does it and it's GM parts, that GM will warranty it and not jack with the main car warranty.

Well...the old saying, "gotta pay to play" rang true this morning.

Sure, you can swap gears if you have a 2013. But, your shit outta luck if you have a 2010/11/12.

I've only got a year and a half on the drivetrain warranty. Maybe I'll just say screw it and finally tune this b***h. Tune it. Put in gears. Call it a day until I finally break down and buy that supercharger.

But the final year is when stuff usually breaks...

You have one hell of a streak going there.

Ugh...don't tell me that!

but yeah...I have been lucky.

I just hit 38k miles and my drivers seat heater went out. Also, my speedo keeps jacking around....will say I'm doing 120 when I'm doing 70.

But...no transmission problems (which to me, is AMAZING). I had them go out in my last two 4th gens. I figured it'd happen by now.

No other issues. The car is SOLID. LOVE IT.

Sorry, but I was just thinking about how many times you might have heard that exact thing after pulling a car over......

Oh Yeah... the LCAs... that changes everything.

2 new tires in one month at the tune of 900 bucks. One my fault..curb. the other coming back from the fest something went through the sidewall.

yeah, that sucks.

one question, though... if you're still planning on a blower, why are you so intent on lower gears? after you go FI, you're gonna have more than enough torque to make up the acceleration on stock ratios, and with lower gearing, it'll be a bit harder to keep it from breaking loose.

not saying it can't or shouldn't be done - just after seeing a bunch of vette & truck guys keep the factory gearing or even go higher, i'd imagine that would be a nice trend to follow. just my 2¢

maybe the metric switch keeps swapping on you... 70mph = 112kph
