Your thoughts on the Speedo and Tach in the 2010 Camaro dash?

Hi all,

Just wondering what owners of the new Maro think of the speedo and tach in the dash?

When I tested the car I remember it being kind of hard to see the speedo and tach when I was driving.. I'm about 5'10 so I don't think I'm overly short or anything. But for some reason I recall the steering wheel was blockign my view of the speedo and tach(partially anyway) through the wheel to see the speedo correctly.

Maybe I was just over analyzing as it was a car and I've driving pickups for the last 10 years...Or maybe it was because on my test drive I was always scared I was going to fast

I am 6' and I can see them just fine.

The steering wheel tilts AND telescopes, so anyone can find a good position that's comfortable and they can see.

Furthermore, the speedo can be displayed digitally on the DIC.

Speedo/Tach is a matter of personal taste - I like it though use the digital speed from the DIC and have an AeroForce Interceptor multi-function gauge showing rpms and other metrics.

Did you adjust the steering wheel to see the dash gauges better or when you did you'd need to trade steering wheel comfort for dash visibility?

As far as the SPEEDO goes, the position is fine, HOWEVER, the neddle is TOO WIDE. and due to the size of that and the numbers, IF we didn't have the digital in the DIC, WE would be getting a LOT MORE speeding tickets as you REALLY don't know for sure what your speed is........the TACH on the other hand is just fine.......as its more of just a visual aid when I had a manual......as I have relied on my hearing and feel of the engine to know when to make a shift, not the tach.

Love 'em both. But then again I'm coming from a 2006 Mustang GT where the gauges were set so deeply in the dash you could barely see them in bright sunlight. On a positive note, Ford remedied that for the new 2010 Mustang.

I'm 6' myself AND I have the sunroof (which limits my headroom) and I found a good position for the seat and Steering wheel that gives me a good view of the gauges while being comfortable for driving. As others have said, the wheel tilts and telescopes so it should be fine.

I agree the Needles are too wide, but I use the Digital speed readout anyway and since I have the Automatic I don't look at the tach unless I just want to see what rpm I am at when in cruise mode...
One thing I do like about them is how they light up at night..

The speedometer in this car is pretty worthless, the numbers increase by 10’s and they are way to close together to get an accurate measurement of your speed. I have had the car since July and have maybe looked at the analog speedometer maybe 2 times, I rely on the digital display. Around here where I live there are a TON of photo radars, would have a bunch of tickets if I solely relied on the analog speedometer…

They're fine for me. Until I got used to the needle position and what exact speed it was on I used the digital speedo. I still use it or leave the DIC blank as there is nothing decent else to have up there.

I like the steering wheel low, but found out I couldn't have it there because I couldn't see the tach. I had to adjust it upwards to see the tach. That's why I wanted the HUD, but not available now. I love the HUD in my C6 Vette.

The only thing I don't lke are all of the indicator lights on the tach. The needle covers them up at times. Seems like they could have found a better place for them... I use the DIC for speed.
