Car cover question.

Been looking at some covers, and I'm wondering how long these will last for outdoor use. I've been told that cheaper covers will eventually rot out. Both GM and SLP offer a cover that looks pretty nice. The biggest thing is water repelling capabilities. The cover staying soaked isn't desirable. I've read that some of the outdoor GM covers, depending on color, will not repel water.

Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Long-term, a car cover will cause more damage to your paint than just leaving it without a cover. Only exception to this is if the cover stays on for a long period of time for storage, otherwise daily covering and uncovering will destroy your clear coat.

I'd suggest applying a sealant and wax to help protect against the elements.

I have the weather shield hp from covercraft. I put it on anytime my car will be sitting for longer than three weeks and it has to go straight from a wash and wax to being covered. It's a great cover and fits amazingly but like any cover if the car is even slightly dusty it will cause minor clear coat scratches.
