I don't think just adding a better posi will last @ 660. I went ZL1 from the tranny back. Rock solid, but I think you are stuck with a 3.73 gear and extra weight. You could go ZL1 diff with DSS driveshaft + axles. I think someone has a package like that.

zl1 rear kit
I tried to inquire about the zl1 rearend kit but it seems everyone has atleast a month waiting list and I need car asap. RDP told me to get tru trac diff, dss driveshaft and axles, and it would be stronger than zl1. Anyone else agree/disagree?

I have the zl1 diff and axles , driveshaft, 6 speed trans etc.zl1 diff is way stronger than the ss. The ss diff is aluminum cased. The zl1 is cast iron and way more rigid. Plus a 9.9 inch ring and pinion. In my opinion no comparison. I have zl1 axles that have had 1400rwhp put through them and 6000 rpm launches and they are still fine. By the time you buy all the parts you will be in it for around the same money. I have seen low mile takeouts for 1000 for the diff, 600 for axles and 300 for an m6 driveshaft. Or 3k for the whole rear subframe with diff and all.

I'm running a Tru Trac & bushings, with GForce axles, 700 rwhp in an auto and zero issues. I went with GForce instead of DSS because their warranty is only one year, GForce is lifetime.

Auburn and Summit are working on a package deal with the new Auburn posi packaged with our axles in a combo kit. I'll have to see if it is ready yet.
Might be a good option.. |

If you stay with the SS center section IMHO it would be good to get a girdle and/or billet bearing caps

A have a dss wavetrac with 33 spline dss shaft. EFFIN HEADACHES.. I can't say how good a zl1 rear is. But I think after breaking 2 dss axles, and dealing with 3 installs and reinstalls...i hate it. If I could turn back time I would go with Gforce or a hammerhead, zl1 option. Im almost waiting for my rear to break again...mind u I never burn out, never ran slicks, and baby the car most of the time. The wavetrac is great...its the axles that fail every time. But all the crap with installs is killin my $$$.
