Scraped bumper, Need advice/help, please
Hello all, like a dummy I hopped the curb in my own driveway and ended up clipping the front driver side bumper. I knew it was bad when I heard the scrape. I've attached a pic of the damage. As it turns out, I also managed to crack that little black spoiler/valence that's located under the front bumper.
Question 1: is the plastic fixable? Right, now I just want to over it up cheaply so it's not screaming white. Is it something I can do or do I need to go to a body shop. He quoted me $200 to spray it. Question 2: What's the name of the black front spoiler thing? I want to replace it, but I didn't see one listed on RockAuto. Can anyone provide assistance or advice for this? thanks ski |

Sorry cant remember the name of the black thing, front spoiler maybe?
200$ is pretty cheap, but on my old (lowered) 4th gen, I couldnt get around scraping the underside of the front fascia, I just used touch up paint, and you'd be surprised what a part you dont look at all the time being 70% better looking will look like. My touch up job wasnt even that good, but I never worried about it again, because that part is not something everybody sees |

Valance or front spoiler works. I agree, $200 doesn't sound that bad but it looks like will need to be sanded or prepped before painting. I've heard that sound on my Z28 before, sometimes it sounds worse than it is but not in your case. Luck on repairs,

I just did the same thing. Looking at options now. Dealer will sometimes use the paintless dent removal guys to also touch up bumpers. A few kits also exist that'll help but obviously not eliminate. I'm trying to decide if it's worth a re-spray.
I've seen this recommended: http://www.drcolorchip.com

I took that black plastic thingy off when I installed my ground effects. I don't think it really does anything...

The black rubber strip is called an air deflector, part number 92234403. You also need the nuts and bolts to hold it in place; I think there's a dozen or more of those. The part number is 11610747. I don't know if there's a separate number for the nut that goes on the bolt. I can't find one in the diagram.
It's parts number 21 and 22 in this diagram: http://store.gmpartshouse.com/parts/...gramCallOut=21 Cheapest I've found it with only a bit of searching is from GMPartsDirect.com: $35.88 for the deflector, and $2.45 for each bolt. You may be able to get the plastic bolts/nuts cheaper at Autozone or O'Reilly Auto, and this thread (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284274) talks about ordering them online at a different site for cheaper as well (see post #21 and beyond). |

The Valance is used to direct air under the car and blocks road grime from the chassis.

I also need to figure out how to look better. The body shop will be easiest, but I like doing things myself. I've never painted anything before and my past experiences with touch up paint did not go well. Ends up looking like drops of paint on the hood or door. |
