Race technology making it to the street

Momentum Autosports is pleased to announce the roll out of a unique product line that has been developed over the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series. This professional racing series is the top level production based sports car racing in the US. Several big name teams are involved, including Jack Roush. Momentum Race Group, subsidiary of Momentum Autosports has campaigned two 2010 Camaro GS.Rs in this series. Starting with the a basic chassis from Riley Technologies, Momentum has developed the car into a machine that is nearly 5 seconds faster per lap than at the start of the season and has run up front at the last 3 races it has competed in, including having fast lap for all the Camaros in the field and out qualifying Jack Roush’s operation at the series finale in Utah.

This technology has now made it into street versions of the race car parts. Currently available or in the final phases of street car testing include various chassis braces, anti roll bars, custom AST coil overs and a drop in replacement spring by Vogtland. Momentum Autosports has also developed 2010+ Camaro specific nitrous parts.

All parts are engineered using the latest in 3D CAD software, tested with FEA and then the updated configurations are raced in GRAND-AM. After proving the parts perform properly on the track Momentum adapts the product to street use and then is tested on their 2010 Camaro Street car.

On the race cars we run a trick dual blade driver adjustable bar. The cost of this level of hardware is out of reach (and unnecessary) for most people. Also, off the shelf blades ALONE can cost $300+ each.

The advantage of blade style anti roll bars is a infinite adjustably between soft and hard, and QUICK adjusting. The blade can be move from full hard to full soft (or anywhere in between) with out jacking up the car, and in about 2minutes.

Here is where Momentum Autosports comes in. We have, in house, the ability to design and engineer these sway bar blades for any application. We have designed a single blade configuration that reduces the cost for street applications. We use our own heat treating process to ensure longevity.

Below are the pictures of the rear prototype. We expect production to start relatively shortly on these. We are still in the design phase of the front bar. This bar feels

We are also working on a drag race rear bar. In less than a minute, you will be able to go from a very stiff nearly locked setup (drag race...) to a much more streetable bar that won't cause over steer.

Sorry for the lackluster pictures of the prototype. It is presently in street duty, and I didn't realize the quality of the pictures until it was already installed.

Very cool, have any photos installed? Just curious to see how the end link attaches to the blade. Nice to see bushing collars as part of the bar.

The pictures don't quite show it well, but it threads into the end.

Axis-
The effective rate of this bar is close to stock at full soft, and approx equal to a 31mm bar @ full stiff. The curve is not linear between the two points. You can't just calculate the stiffness like you can on a traditional bar. The assembly was tested in FEA in order to calc "effective" stiffness so that customers have a better feel for what they are getting.

Our new front bar will be similar in adjustment range, and our "drag race" rear bar will go from a 32mm bar to about 10 times stiffer bar in 30 seconds.

Aaron-
It was good to see you and your wife as well. I actually used your on-board video on YouTube to help learn the "outerloop" at Utah!
