i was told that an 18x11 rear wheel fits fine...
will the 1.5" reduction in width help with clearance in your opinion?

i guess i could just go 19's, but was told thge tire selection for 18's is better, and the 18' wheels are even lighter... that was the sell for me.

this will be a street car, not a race car.

Who is making the wheels for you?

My 18's hang out of the wheel wells about 1" - maybe just a hair less.

If you are planning on lowering the car, so it looks good, I would go with the 19's.

You are a funny guy Rob.. Well.. my car is street-able.. sorta.. kinda.. I have been busy since the winter season set in... it's been getting a little less street legal... and more racer friendly.

It is mid stream right now on the minor interior upgrade.

R1 and R2 were decent runs. Oct 10 video sux.

Video isn't the greatest - Camera is a wide angle, so it throws the depth perception off and makes it look like I am Miles from the cones.., and the sound is terrible - there was 30+ mph wind so there is a ton of wind noise. (Turn the sound off... or way down.)

Here's the link to my runs on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/user/dhow2335?feature=mhum

I bought a Hero Go pro HD camera when I was at SEMA.. so this coming season I can capture HD MP3 video. I have a suction cup mount and a roll cage mount. I plan on having a second camera as well... One outside, one inside.

Thanks Pete..

That's all I have for video though.. I don't have anything away from the car... Those runs were taken at Ayer Mass and are are 1.5 miles long.. you don't get video outside the car. Cars wind up looking like ants rather quickly.. It's pretty boring to watch. LOL

I will be able to get some video this season at NHMS of the car zipping around the autocross and road race track. That is a relatively short track setup (averages 30 seconds) in a 1.5 acre lot.

Nice runs! Looks like one giant slalom. Just a helpful video hint on recording sound. I run an external mic into the trunk. It eliminates wind noise and you can really hear the exhaust and tires. Take a listen.

Man, I would, but it's just to far away. I haven't ruled it out yet, but leaning towards probably not.

the wheel biting into the arm.

I worked with John at CCW for 4 months to come up with the correct offset for running 18's..
but there just isn't enough clearance for them on the street, even with the correct offset/backspacing,
you still have to modify the LCA to make 18's fit and not rub.. I replaced the Lower Control Arm with Spohn
arms and we modified them to have a 1/2" cut in them where the wheel needed clearance.
They are killer for the autocross track, though. Makes the car like a skateboard with the short tires. With an 18" tire
on the street, you will have issues bottoming out on speed bumps and driveway crests.

Here are the 19X10's I run on the street..

My car at an autocross on the street tires.

Here are the 18's mounted on the car for the autocross track...

Notice how LOW it sits, just with the short diameter tire. The car only has 1" drop in suspension. (Tire diameter measures 25.6" tall)

Here's a pic at one of the SCCA Autocross events near the end of the season.

This is the definition for Sick Camaro!
