EDIT: almost forgot about the TSB for the gurgling noise... it involves the draining of the coolant, and if any gets on the belt and its not immediately cleaned off, youve got permenant squeek. i guess we will be seeing alot of the noise around here now
Need to watch out for the Power Steering Pulley. Its made of plastic. I had a strange squeal that wouldn't go away on my 99 TA, turned out the PS pulley had cracked down the middle. Lingenfelter makes a Billet Aluminum stock replacement which I bought and installed.

Glad to hear they found the tensioner. That was my guess. I have been a tech for 15 years. Belts don't squeal just because of the belt, they are either too long or wrong, (has happened) or you have a bad tensioner. I have seen the spring in tensioners have the proper tension when cold, but once the engine warms up they lose their tension and you get that noise. I am surprised they didn't find the tensioner on one of your other trips to the dealer. A mechanic will change the belt, but a good tech will find out why it was making noise in the first place.

Tensioner - of course.

I have the same issue, squealing belt...squeals above 2000 rpm's, very annoying. I took it to the dealer and they said they need to order a new belt. I asked them if they were sure it wasn't the tensioner, they said it was the belt. perhaps this is one of those common "bugs"... I just hope it gets fixed!

how loud is this squeel. I have a very faint noise but I am unable to pin point it. I know that I am going to have to wait before I take it into the dealership since most of those guys seem to be deaf when it comes to squeeks and rattles

yeah mine is not very loud either, just dissapointing to hear from a new motor. I was hoping the belt was just a little bit wet from the hard rain we just got, but after a while it should have stopped.
I made an appointment at the local GM/Chevy/Buick dealer.

had appointment had dealership this morning regarding this issue. Mechanic told me there was a TSB issued on the 13th of jan addressing this problem. They are ordering a redesigned serpentine belt. Only v6 models build before aug 09 are affected. Supposedly the new belt is made out of a different material.

Good to know , but is it so serious that they have to hold the car or are can you just bring it in when they get it in?

Unhappy same deal

Yeah man, I got the same news. They ordered me a new belt and will notify me when it comes in.

I asked the the service guy if it was cool to drive with the belt like it is, he told me "the belt will last years, but we went ahead and ordered you a new one."

so i guess thats good news, at least I dont have to ride around in a rental HHR or something of that nature.

the belt noise just sucks especially just buying it less than a week ago.
