I am tuning my 3.6l Kenny Bell with IDE 80# injectors, BAP and ZLI fuel pump. I'm going to push the car to 14psi on the first run and try to creep from there to 18psi. My car has a fully built 408 with 9.5:1 compression and 360cfm at .600 lift heads (built by CMB motorsports....these heads rock). Also the cam is a Thunder Racing TruTorque Stage 5. The lobes release a lot of pressure/air/fuel enough to lower the static compression just enough to stay on pump gas to about 18psi.
My weaknesses: Pump (potentially, no ones pushed this combo that hard) Clutch (ACT Heavy Duty Street/Strip) Transmission (6speed) I do not launch the car. I like to road and street race Rear Diff I'll post numbers, including AFR's and fuel pressure when I get it tuned on Friday. |

would it be worth installing a ZL1 fuel pump with a SLP 2300 and LS3 conversion...

Nope. Just make sure your injectors are 60# or don't push past about 600rwhp. Numbers in pressure this and AF's that do matter. Truth is though, real world testing, experience and longevity with the combination of parts is more sound than any numbers.
Moral is: If it's been done, tried, proven and true. You can do it too |

This will be a colossal waist of a dyno session, your dead before you get started. An LPE Twin pump will be hard pressed to Keep up if this combo makes what I think it will make. Ted.

Well I changed my stock pump to a ZL1 pump this morning. By myself with a jack and jack stands it took 3 and a half hours and it was no fun at all. The answer to the OP question is no. If you are going to take the time to change your pump, go big with the LPE dual the first time so that you dont have to do it again later if you decide to go with more power.

<--- Has ID850 injectors, ZL1 pump, and KB BAP on low setting, and plan on pushing 650+rwhp, (probably already there, but haven't gotten a dyno pull yet) and my fueling is fine.

You have not been to the dyno. You think you Probably have 650 RWHP You have never had a fuel pressure gauge on it on the dyno and Your fueling is Fine. REALLY???? Thank you for your recommendation, Let us know how the dyno session goes and PLEASE LOG FUEL PRESSURE.

Not as good in other vehicles with different controllers. Please Keep an Eye on your Fuel Pressure, I wouldn't want anything to happen to your engine. Ted.

I'll tune the 3.6 with the ZL1 pump until I see FP drop badly. If it get's to the point where I need an Aeromotive In Tank. I'll do it. But since all my dyno time costs me nothing, I'm way ok with doing it twice, three times etc.. I like the experience of learning what the ecu/combo responds to. I know for great big power I'll need the Aeromotive, so another session after tuning with the ZL-1. Bahhh, I've got time to waste.

Bump!
So has anyone actually logged fuel pressure before and after installing ZL1 pump?
