Looking for 4l80 info....

I know there are few Camaros running around with aftermarket transmissions. I am looking for any information on swapping in a 4l80. I currently have a RPM built 6060 and is holding up great. I want to get more serious into 1/4 mile racing the camaro, and would like to see my options. Car currently is 655rwhp, and looking to upgrade to 800 over the winter.

So what are the pros and cons going to be with swapping the trans? I also am open to dissuceaing any other options that are out there.

Also to the vendors I am open receiving any priceing information you have on this.

thats funny i was wondering about this mad dog guy since i live an hour away and had never heard of here till a couple months ago. I asked alot of friends about him and no one had heard of his shop and this is a long list of lsx racers and builders. The Norm around here is to go with RPM but i have heard great things about jakes they just havent been around long enough to be very well known yet.

The 4L80E built unit is the only auto overdrive trans to really hold the power your talking. We see the 6L80E's fail at around 600 RWHP.

Mike is right on on the 2 to stay away from.

I just installed an RPM Level 6 4l80e with a trans brake. I also swapped out from the TR6060 and there are a few modifiactions needed for it to fit properly but fairly smooth install. Here are some pics of mine being installed at Cincy Speed and at the end of the pics they show the couple of cuts needed to make it fit.

Mad Dog trans is legit. Lou is a great guy, I dealt with him YEARS ago, and he's still around because his shop is no bullshit.

Jake's Trans is who I got my 4l80 from. Lots of local guys run his parts, and he custom makes little bits to go inside the 4l80. Can't go wrong there, either.

ADM makes a crossmember piece that will let your 4L80 bolt to the factory M6 crossmember. I paid $59.99 iirc. Pics in my thread in member car journals. Worth the purchase.

I know mad dogs has really bad reviews like really bad. Seems like a guy that was running his shop at one time was really ruining his name and shop. Lou defending his self saying this but not sure who to believe.

What do you have in mind to achieve 800 HP? Also, are you interested in hocking any of your take off parts?
