way low gas mileage
I just bought a 2010 Camaro 2ss and I was curious about my mileage I only drive to work and back which is like 3 blocks away. My mileage is not even 7MPG!!!!!!! could there be any issues that make it this low?
I hardly ever get on it since I don't drive very far. and only mods are roto-fab intake. I know its a sports car and you shouldn't worry about mileage but my last one was getting around 9mpg with a cam |

Thats really low. I will average 14 in heavy city traffic. Clean the air filter and a fuse pull. See if that helps you.

3 blocks? You car is not even warming up.
Take it out on the Expressway for about 15 mins then set the cruise to 70 and reset/recheck your mpg. |

Well that's your average. When a injected engine is. Cold the pcm keeps it rich so it won't stall like carbureted engines will until it warms up.

I think if I lived 3 blocks from work I'd leave my car at home and walk.....less chance of damage/accidents and better for the engine to fully warm up instead of really short trips.

Like the others have said, too short of a drive.
Zero it out, and take it on a real trip so it can be fully warmed up.

Ok thanks! the reason why I don't just walk is becuz I sometimes have to drive my vehicle for work purposes so it would be pointless to walk then get there and find out I have to go back and get my car

It's the short trips that are doing it. As someone previously stated, the engine runs rich when the block is cold to prevent stalling. My cobalt got 23mpg when I'd just drive to and from work when I worked 2.5 miles from my house. When I started working 14 miles from my house it jumped up to 35mpg.

Your short 3 block drive is probably the worst thing you can do to a car, especially during cold/winter months. None of the fluids have time to warm up, which means potential contaminants/moisture can stay in your engine/transmission/etc.
Although your 7 MPG does seem low, it doesn't really surprise me. When you first start your car in the morning, your car's computer is in "open loop". Without going into too much detail, it basically means your car is running rich. Once certain parameters are met (predetermined warm coolant temperature, etc.), the computer goes into "closed loop". This leans out your fuel mixture, which means better driving dynamics and better mileage. I'm guessing your car barely gets out of 'open loop' during your drive. Have you ever considered walking or maybe taking the LONG way to work?
