So, i got stopped, kinda, today.

I saw a cop with his lights on a few bus lengths back when stopped at a traffic light. Light turned green, so I continued as normal. I saw him pull up behind another car that was behind me, and as I rounded the curve, I didn't see him follow. I went to turn left into a pizza shop (i had inched forward and was over the line at this point), and he pulled up behind me and went to go around on my left, almost cutting me off. He rolled down his window, briefly stopped next to me, and gave me this weird hand motion, then sped down the road past me. I pulled into the pizza shop to pickup my lunch, and when i came back out, he was in front of me with his lights on.

I got written for tints and radar detector (obstruction of view), which I can understand. Now, the third ticket was "Failure to yield to emergency vehicles" (citation 39:4-92). Am I really in the wrong for this? Perfectly okay if I am, just trying to get some outside perspective.

He also tried giving me citations for my rear window louvers, and my exhaust being too loud, but gave me verbal warnings.

I don't hate cops, but he was walking around my car looking for shit to write me up for, which I kinda thought was a bit much. Not to mention, I work for the school district in the same town as him.

obstruction of view from your radar detector?? Did you ask him what the hand gesture was all about and why he didn't just get behind you and light you up? Nice looking ride by the way!!

It sounds like he was looking for a reason to give you a ticket and hit you with every infraction he could think of.

yes, from my detector, which is located directly to the left of my rearview mirror. Didn't think to ask, didn't think to really say anything that could piss him off and get my pockets any thinner. And thanks, much appreciated

Yeah, when you see lights behind you, they expect you to pull to the right to make way. If you fail to do so, they will usually add on other infractions out of spite.

wait why were you pulled over? You were in a public parking area parked weren't you? Why did he speed past you and then come back? Sounds like he had a thing out for you after you didn't really move out of his way

Sounds like you didn't get out of the way in time. In his opinion you were "one of those guys" You've seen it yourself ....the guy that doesn't get out of the way. Maybe this guy was just looking for a reason. Especially with everything else he was mentioning.

I could have moved to the side of the road, but by the time I saw him, I was already mid-turn. Me moving probably would have caused confusion, and most likely an accident

I understand. Best to let them do what they do and comply. You might get lucky and get some of those reduced or dismissed. If radar detectors are legal where you are maybe take a pic from your viewpoint to show you can see fine. Sorry all that happened and keep this updated as to the outcome.

Was the obstruction of view the tint or radar detector? If he was claiming the radar detector was obstructing your view, then I hope everyone who has a non-factory GPS navigation on their front windshield avoids this guy.
