automatic or manual?

I am new to Camaro 5 and find myself able to finally afford a muscle car. I know its the Camaro 2SS RS, I have the color, interior and specs all picked out. All except the trans...do I go with a Manual and save the $1125 and have all 426 hp or do I go with the automatic? I have driven both and they seem equally quick. I just worry that with the auto and the cyl cutout on cruise could eventually be a problem down the road. The car will be a toy and not an everyday driven car. Anyone have suggestions or thoughts?

If it's not your daily driver there is no question, it has to be the manual!

welcome to the site.

for me...I'd buy the auto if I were going to drive it everyday (and possibly get stuck in traffic with it)...or if I were going to do a lot of dragracing with it. For a weekend car, it's the M6 for me.

If you decide on an A6, the cyl cutout (AFM) can be tuned out (or adjusted)...and the trans can be tuned to be much more responsive as well if you would consider getting a tune for it. The lower 1st gear and faster shifting help make up for the little less hp.

If you are going to just have it as a toy you should definately get a manual.

Since it's not going to sit in stop-and-go traffic every day and you're able to drive a stick, get a stick. A weekend toy would only need to be automatic if you weren't comfortable using a stick or you wanted very consistent track times.

Proving or disproving your manhood is a non-factor.

People always say its a total pain to drive a stick in traffic. It's moving your right arm, and legs 2-3 inches at a time. I drive through terrible traffic everyday and its such an easy car to drive, in and out.

If you think it's true then you were not joking....

You buy what best suits the type driving you will be doing. that is all.. no manhood issues are required...

I missed having a stick to play with while driving,
so now I have fun driving my stick. (it's a testosterone thing)

If it's a fun car and not a daily driver in horrid traffic...
Manual.

I recently ordered a 2SS RS stick. I was going back and forth with stick and automatic like you. The engine note sounded better with the manual transmission car, and I found the manual car more fun to drive. However, I prefer manual transmissions. Both the automatic and manual SS models are quick cars. It is your choice. Do you prefer an automatic or stick?

I enjoy my M6 even in daily driving. Get the manual if possible.

Even if it is the daily driver .

Choice is really your preference though. I like my muscle cars (all performance cars really) to be stick, so that's what I got.

Remote start would have been nice and all, but I think in a car of this caliber you are better off with a manual. Especially if this is to be a "fun" car.
