New Timing Chains now error P0420

On my daughter 2010 Camaro LT 3.6 I put on new Timing Chains and 3 new Cam Phasers.

Now that it is completed I get the check engine light with error P0420 for the catalytic converter.

anyone familiar with Timing Chain kit and Cam Phaser replacement seen this before.

I am praying it something to do with the timing chains replacement verse a new catalytic converter.

I would suggest maybe the number 1 O2 sensor on that side may need cleaned or replaced unless its another of the listed causes that can cause that code. I would check those .... Good Luck
http://www.engine-codes.com/p0420_chevrolet.html

The first sensor may be fouled more and not reading as well so the number two is reading too much ... I know the DI engines without a catch can could be fouling things .....

I changed the left rear (as the reading is saying left) O2 sensor. I will clean and change the front to see if that could be it.....this is driving me crazy.....fix one thing and something else pops up

I get a p420 or p430 code every time a take a long trip. My son and I just got home from a 1400 mile road trip, the CEL came on at about 1200 miles. I'm going out with my HYPERTECH tuner to clear it, in a few. The Hypertech is great for reading and clearing codes.

Question: I had all the Timing Chains replaced using cloyes timing chains Kit....and I also replaced all three of the cam phasers.....but the mech did not up-date the PCM.

Could it more power due to the chains and I need a PCM up-date of change? It is a Manual V6

I just read and cleared the codes. There were two, p430 AND p420.. The car runs fine, and they won't come back until I drive 250+ in a single trip.

did you have to remove the intake?

since you didn't have the problem before, I'm guessing you have an intake leak somewhere after the MAF sensor.

if that looks good, I would maybe get new post-cat O2 sensors. I posted before the sensors are fairly cheap if you look them up at Bosch and get them on Amazon.

How many miles? Could actually be the cat.

Doesn't the fact that they come back at all mean there's an issue?

99,800 miles on my car, and it only happens during really long trips. The car runs the same with the CEL on or off. The car is detecting something, but clearing the codes saves me money.... If I took it to the Stealership of course they would say it needs New Cats, Oxygen Sensors........ The car runs fine everyday. And yes, it's been through state inspection and emissions and has passed.
