Periodic "crackling" sound

Noticed this while driving on the highway today. After about an hour and a half on the highway, the speakers on the dash started making crackling noises. Almost sounded like sparks were shooting off of the windshield. And this is only while playing my iPod. It immediately goes away when I turn the sound off or change it to AM/FM radio. Anyone know what it could be? Poor wire connection with USB port maybe?

It happens to me as well. but usually if i shut the car off and turn it back on immediately. turning on and off the radio and or disconnection the iPod usually fixes it. I tried to reproduce it at the dealer but i failed.

Same issue here. I just unplug the iPod and plug it back in. There are lots of threads on this topic.

Have the same problem here but only while using the iPod cable. Now I skirt around the problem and play it through a double-ended stereo cable and save the iPod cable for charging.

FWIW, I also find it easier to select a playlist through the device rather than flipping through the menu interface on the radio.
