Muffler delete
Thought I'd post here also, and maybe it'll be seen sooner.
I removed my mufflers and just added straight pipes. Should I have done anything afterwards for performance or any thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

What are you trying to accomplish exactly? You do know a muffler delete does nothing more than increase sound, nothing much (other then a few less pounds) performance wise.

It was a very good decision on my part.. I am not a power hungry guy, I wanted the noise, and now it roars like a lion!

You picked up a little hp by reducing the exhaust restriction but not much. Nothing you need to do. The mufflers are aft of all sensors.
At 65 - 75 mph do you have any exhaust drone? I am considering a muffler delete as well, but don't want drone at highway speeds. |

Just gaining sound......great sound IMO. But only sound. Sounds like a V8 should sound now.

I have stainless power longtubes with the muffler delete. Only thing on my car is resonators and it doesn't drone that bad when cruising.

I have no drone at all-maybe that's only an issue on automatics. It's quieter than most Mustangs at idle, at WOT though it sounds great.

I didn't expect to get HP increase or any performance gain for that matter. It does drone just before 2k rpm - to just passed 2k rpm.
It does sound A LOT better, and has some deceleration pop which isn't a big deal. Thanks, oldag. |

I have the Flowmaster AT. with the AT mufflers off and pieces of 3"dia x 18" straight pipes clamped on. Sounds good at start up and WOT. it SHRIEKS at 3k rpm at normal driving. after i put headers and hiflows on, i am going to put the AT's back on. i have had straight pipes for a almost a year.
