Lightbulb Who wants Autocross Instruction???

Ladies and Gentlemen

I am in the process of finalizing all the requirements for the RacingByrds First Annual "Come Out And Race" Autocross event!

The big questions is... Do you want Professional instruction at the event?
This will greatly effect the cost of the event but many of you have talked about it so I thought I would ask. I have put this together for you The Camaro5 Family and any of your family and friends that want to enjoy an Awesome day of racing your car, and it doesn't have to be a Camaro, although I will be designing the course for our cars! The down side to professional instruction is again the cost. To have enough instructors it will cost from $150 to $200 per person.
The alternative is that I have talked with several of the Race Team members (Dannie Pinard, Don Gonzales, Mike Haddad, even myself, and a few others) and we would be willing to provide "informal" instruction during the event. This will reduce the cost to $65 per participant and would be more of a one on one instruction with someone you probably know. The idea here is to provide a safe, fun, low stress environment to encourage "First Timers" to Come Out And Race. With that said, there will be a completion going on for all that attend and we will have plenty of Awards to give out, kind of like the Super Chevy Show. For all of you "Hard Core" drivers, the track will be more of a mini road course and will still challenge even the most experienced drivers.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 16th at the Santa Anita Race Track. I will post more event details and registration information next week. I hope to see you there!

Come Out And Race

I'll be there for sure....Voted for RaceTeam Instruction....That seems "Professional" enough for me....lol...

It's a great idea, professional, RaceTeam, whatever....

If anybody has thought about auto=x but shyed away for whatever reason, this would be the best way to start.

If you ever think you might wanna auto-x, I wouldn't miss this one...Get out there!...It's all good, stock, modded, non-Camaro, whatever....just go...

Rob, I have a few questions. Now being at the race track the course will be a dirt 1/4 mile oval? And how do we fit our cars in those narrow starting gates? Also will there be betting allowed?

LOL

Sounds like a blast. Unfortunately November is a black out month for me at work. I can't ask for any days off. :-(

I guess I dont know who the professional instruction would be. Tips and tricks from fellow racers, especially some of the people you mentioned who probably have more experience and knowledge to pass on driving these heavy chevys than most racing schools.

Sounds like a blast!

I was talking to the guys from the EVO driving school and I looked into getting some people from the local SCCA club but I agree with what you said!!!

NOOOOOO!!! Not the dirt, you know we don't even like parking on the dirt! I will bet that you and Tom end up in another epic battle for position!
