Teach 'em young

I have a three-year-old son, who loves my Camaro possibly even more than me. He is constantly asking for rides in the "white car."

Tonight, I was out in the front yard with my wife and the boy. A neighbor who happens to work with my wife stopped by to briefly talk shop with her. He drives a black Mustang... Danny was intrigued, and ran up to the Mustang and said "what's that?" I told him, "that's a black Mustang." He looked at it for a minute, and then said "that's cool, but I wanna go for a ride in your white car" and then ran over and climbed into the Camaro.

I could not have been more proud!

He definitely loves the car more than me, haha, but I learned from my experience with my daughter (now 10) to minimize my involvement in mother-child politics.

My daughter is 10, but she is not particularly fond of the Camaro. She prefers the F150 and has already claimed dibs on the truck.

I agree with this whole thread, I grew up in a rural part of middle ga on a farm and I can remember learning how to drive my dads manual '70 volkswagon Baja on a country road at age 13 then him letting my drive his 66 tbird to my driving exam at 16. its given me a passion for cars and a lot of great memories with my dad working on them and going to shows. now at 23 yrs old with a 73 yr old dad its something I miss now that im in Athens for college

How would the cows have been fed without underage kids driving the truck while the others were throwing out hay stacks across the fields.......usually a big discussion between us kids about who was driving on that day. Granted the old truck would not do more than 10 mph but it was fun.

My great grandson lives with us. He loves the Camaro and everytime we stop he shouts GO. He loves the feel when you put the go peddle to the floor. Next week we will have the 66 down to woodward dream cruise. He loves all the cars and engine noise.

Gotta start them young!

The daughter will be a truck fiend for life.

My 17 y/o doesn't want anything to do w/ cars... trucks only! This has been that way since she was 5 or 6 when I had my Dodge Quad Cab. Oh, she really only likes Dodge trucks now... might tolerate a Chevy or GMC.

Ehhh not "bad" but maybe not the best idea? He does have a 2SS....I'd be nervous letting my 11 yr old behind the wheel even in a parking lot in any V8, I'd rather it be a 4cyl but I already know it'll be this V6 as I don't intend on getting rid of it, I personally think 400+ is a lot for a kid to test for his first time in the captains seat lol. I think we need a "Drivers Ed" mode :p

But at the end of the day our opinions don't matter, just make sure he wears brown pants

WOW!!! Did that bring back some memories! 1939 Chevy 1-ton stake side, 4-speed compound low gear and a manual throttle. All I ever did was steer, but when your 6 years old, that's a big deal! Life in the fifties was much simpler.
