Middle-aged owners - do ypeople give you the "midlife crisis" nonsense?
I turned 50 this year. I've had convertible sports cars since I was in my early 30s. Yet I still run into people that call my Camaro a "mid-life crisis car." It gets frustrating because it seems like they don't even hear me.
"Yeah, that's your mid-life crisis car." "No, I've had convertibles since I was in my 30s." "And now that you're middle aged you've got to have a new one." "Age is irrelevant. People from 15 to 90 own Camaros" "M-hm... midlife crisis." "I bought it now because I couldn't afford one when I was younger!" "And you bought this because it makes you feel younger." ... Anyone else have to deal with this?

I buy toys every chance I get. Ive had several motorcycles cruisers and sport bikes even a dual sport. Multiple "fast" cars and ive always gotten that mid life crisis bs. I bought a c6 corvette when I was 28 and what I heard the most was that's an old dudes car. People call buying things to have fun a midlife crisis. I think the reason they do that is they are not brave enough to buy fun things when they want when they can afford them. They need to justify it in someway so they try to down play you enjoying your hard earned money and claim its just a mid life crisis. That way they can live with / justify not being committed enough to buy things that excite them. The thing I find funny is I just turned 30 and Ive been accused of making mid-life crisis purchases since I turned 17 and I bought my first Camaro even though it was a 3.8L V-6.

I didn't buy mine as a mid-life crisis purchase. I broke up a girl and saw it, liked it and bought it.

I don't get the midlife crisis thing, but I do get the "practical car" argument. I have had people say, "oh, you should have gotten a more practical car". If I'm the only one driving the car with an occasional passenger sometimes, why would I want to get a four door? lol!

Idk.....I'm 51. I've always drove what I could afford and wanted at the time. I could care less what others say. I drive a zl1 because I could afford it and I like it.
