Exhaust
Has anyone changed the exhaust on their ZL1 yet? My wife is wanting to change hers and wanting a louder, deeper tone! Open to suggestions.

I've been looking at the Borla kits and found a great installer here. Then went over to dealership near my house (not where I bought my car) and service mgr told me that if I put a kit on my car it would void my drive train warranty. So, not sure about it now.

I haven't had a chance to take some photos, however Borla used my ZL1 as a test mule for a SS exhaust test fit and performance check. I'm currently running their set up as an axle back. More to follow with photos.

I ordered ARH 2" Headers. I am doing the long system, which goes all the way back to the factory suitcase. I have heard many Z06's done this way and it sounds great

Borla Axle Back Setup
Ok, so attached is photos of Borla's S-Type SS variant axle back fitted for the ZL1. I ran this set up from Ventura all the way to Las Vegas and back, plus some around town driving.
As you can she the tips fit great in the rear valiance and the cans tuck in nicely, however some modification via cutting of the heat shield and rear valiance was necessary to accommodate the NPP valves. As for the exhaust sound, on point! To me the S-Type has a more distinct sporty sound vice a deep low growl (my opinion) and for that fact its not my cup of sound I prefer. That being said, at WOT.... people know your there. I've had a many startled drivers on the highway...lol. No drone at any speed, in fact I was quite surprised how little I noticed the exhaust at cursing speed (I averaged 70 to 90 on the highways). I'll work up some sound bites for you all to compare. In my opinion the sound is on par with what I've heard on the SS just a bit louder. Talking with Boral, they have a Red auto coming to test out a ZL1 specific 3" piped cat back set up with both verities of cans ( S-Type and ATAK). Also, plans are in the works for a Long Tube headers set up and intro their new Carbon Fiber exhaust tips (I've seen this in person, pretty damn bad ass IMO!) Anyway, stay tuned if you want to see more. https://www.borla.com/chevy-2016-201...haust-systems/

Those look great out the back. Since you said you didn't like the sport exhaust what were you looking for in sound? I'm looking for louder, muscle car sound. Obviously not as loud as my '66 Chevelle SS 396, with headers and Flowmasters. That sound fits that car perfectly. From the sound clips Corsa and the Borla ATAK sound pretty good.

I like the ATAK set up as well, however I haven't had the opportunity to test them out. On my 2015 1LE, I did a simple can removal and had pipe and tips installed. The sound was raw with a low deep growl to it, that's the sound I like.
