On star and XM is it worth it?

I just bought a used 2010 RS.( it had less that 2k miles on it). This is my 3rd consecutive Camaro, but none of my previous Camaro's had On Star or XM. My question is it worth having it activated?

Thanks

I have XM in my Surburban. I use it all the time.

Onstar, I've never used it. It's been on all of my Surburbans since 2001, and I've never used it.

It's a personal thing. But in my opinion, XM is worth trying out and OnStar is not. Call XM and tell them your situation, and that you're looking for a deal for a trial situation. They should get you a short deal that won't cost you too much. I hate mainstream radio, so it rocks hard for me.

I've tried OnStar turn-by-turn a few times, works decently well but it's annoying when you veer off the route and it asks you to confirm re-routing. Wish it did it automatically like any GPS system.

To me it's about price for what you get. Approx. $20-$30 per month for OnStar is too much for how much use I give it, unless I really needed the safety features. For example, if I had a 16 year old driving this car or I lived in an area where car thefts were more common, I might consider the OnStar subscription. The GPS on OnStar is not really worth it to me when I have smart phone (or could get a GPS for $100 one time price instead of subscription fee).
For $77/yr, I'll take the the XM subscription.

XM Definitely!!

On Star......ehhh, not so sure. The directions feature is pretty convenient, but the On Star subscription seems a bit expensive for what it is. I still have 10 months to go of my 1 year free on my SS, but unless they unexpectedly drop the fees, I'll probably let it expire.

However, my wife is leaning towards extending hers when her free trial expires on her G6.

I did not renew my Onstar. I never used it and it was just one more bill I didn't want to deal with.

From having XM for over five years.....

D O.. N O T.... give them your credit card number and access to doing automatic renewals of your account for each month/qtr/year. You'll totally regret it. Otherwise, commercial-free music is nice.

i think i can do without xm. i really like Onstar. i left my key in the trunk and called them up. that was a great help as i was too far from home to get my second set of keys. so in emergencies such as this it can be very helpful to have Onstar. just my opinion.

XM definitely, I can see onstar being useful if you drive a lot. I will let my onstar run out next year. But definitely keeping XM!

I love my XM. I canceled it in my TBSS because of crappy reception, however, I left it on in my Camaro. I get GREAT reception in the Camaro. I also have online listening. My fiance listens to it at work. I think when they give you the $77 a year deal, it's a great deal, I would definitely NOT pay their full price though. Totally not worth it.

Onstar: I don't have directions and connections, I'm letting that expire. I AM going to renew the regular onstar though. For me, the automatic crash response alone is worth the price of admission. In addition to remote unlock.

I used directions and connections once. I was impressed with it, but not for what they charge for the service.

I would have preferred Sirius, but at $77/yr(plus royalty fee) XM is not bad. I have had reception issues around trees and tall buildings. Onstar is cool for directions but a GPS is better. I will not be renewing it after the trial.
