My 2SS Stolen and Later Found Stripped

Recently I found a job and moved into a hotel in Alameda, California util I get settled in the region. This past Friday morning I stepped into the hotel's parking lot to drive off to work and my car was gone. After the second or so that it took to process the stark reality, I phoned the police, On Star, and my insurance company. This morning (Sunday) I received a call from the Vallejo (California) Police Department and my car was found stripped of its engine and interior. Ironically, an On Star operator also phoned me to report that my car could not be located and the search would continue for 48 more hours (really???). Now I could bemoan On Star, but we know its effectiveness (tongue in cheek). This is damn disappointing to say the least. If SS's can be stolen off of dealership lots, then what chance does the everyday, hard-working individual have? I know firsthand what that answer is.

That really sucks..

Unfortunately car thieves are becoming more and more technology savy. Onstar is easy to bypass if you know where to look (most do now). I advise install a separate GPS with its own power supply and link to to your phone.

Hopefully your insurance doesn't give you too much hassle.

For whatever reason o/p northern california is a hot spot for Camaro 'ss right now. They are being stolen and stripped like nothing else. It's crazy (leo family member) was talking about this to me.

Sorry to hear bud, upgrade time I guess.

Well the good news out of this all is that you get to upgrade, as long as your insurance company doesn't give you much of a hassle.

You're not the first person on here who has had their car stolen in the east bay. I'm not surprised at all. Out of curiosity did you have wheel locks?

That is horrible, what is up with all of these California thefts recently? These thieves are growing some balls.

Very sorry to hear it.

I'm in Mass and while I worried at first, I decided not too much can be done and that is why I have insurance. I no longer worry too much. I try to be smart - I work overnight and not in the greatest area - but I park far away and next to one of our bldgs with security cameras. If I take trips to bad areas (going to Manhattan in October), I take my beater/winter car instead.

Check craigslist you might be able to buy it back lmao. But kidding aside sorry to hear that hopefully the thieves die in a fiery crash.
