Lightbulb HID Fog Light Mod

I want to change out the factory yellow fog lights to some HID lights to match the 2LT RS package HID headlights. I've been reading about this topic on other threads and there seams to be some technicalities I'm not sure about: Heat and light intensity. Apparently some HID fog lights can get too hot and burn the plastic foglight cover and some lights are not that intense. Can anyone shed some light on this technical topic? I just want my fog lights to look as nice as my HID headlights. I live in Texas so its just a cosmetic fog light. ;-)

yeah I would recommend going through ACC and picking up their LED bulbs because I put HIDs in my fogs and after about 10min of use my lens was completely melted and screwed up. I own a lot of ACC products and 100% recommend them, I actually just finished ordering their LED fogs

If the color of the bulb is all you want, and you're not really worried about light intensity save yourself a lot of money and go to eBay.

I just bought my wife some white led fog bulbs for $10 shipped. They look to be about a 5-6k hid.

A lot of people seem to have issues with HID melting the housing but I've heard a glass lens will hold up to the heat.

I bought the AAC plasma bulbs, and they look fantastic! I would definitely recommend them.

Thanks guys. I'll look into the white fog lights (not HID) to avoid melting issues and keep cost down. I just want the look of the white fog lights.

I've had my led pw13s for a year. Only a few leds are on the top are just now starting to fail. They look amazing and match almost perfectly with no heat issues at all. So like an earlier post said, if your just looking to match the color go with something like these.

Miro...be warned...the AAC's are about 6000K and have a blue hint. If you are ok with that then get them and enjoy....Alot better than the stock yellows. If you want a true match to your halos/HIDs, you might want to consider something closer to 4300k. Just preference I guess. I didn't like mine that blue. Good luck...either way, they really do make your car stand out!

How do you swap out the DRL's and fog lights on the 2013. ZL 1 convertible? I have new AAC lights to install.

AACs plasma bulbs are more blue than the pw13s. The pw13s match almost perfectly. I put my car next to another with the plasmas and its a night and day difference in color.

This is what I want them to look like. I don't care about intensity only looks and keeping cost down. Would you all post some links to what you recommend for me. There are so many options to choose from. Thx

@Miro

I noticed that you have a 2013. GM changed the socket for the drl bulbs for 2013 (and late model 2012, which I have). It is now PSX26W and the key (little male plastic piece on the bulb that slides into the female piece on the harness) is on the other side. This means that the key on the P13W bulb won't fit exactly into the harness in your 2013. if you are ok with filing the key down, and the bulb not snapping in place, then you are good, as nothing else changed. A lot of members have done this and are happy with this modification.

The other option is to get a bulb with the new socket. I purchased mine from a c5 vendor for $45. Not only did it fit the new socket, but it snapped in securely and was a better match for my halos and Headlights (4300K). You can read about it in this thread and see my pictures....it's post #44. It's good to do your homework and have options. Good luck!

I have a 2010 2SS non-RS that I put GM RS headlights in using an OttoBody harness. I love the way my lights work, but I didn't like the way my yellow fogs didn't match my HID's. I replaced my fog lamps with ACC's Plasma LED replacements. Now my fogs are bluer than my HID's. Does anybody know where I can get some 5202 replacements that more closely match the color/temp of the GM Hid's?
