Launch Control problems

Hey guys, I did a search and couldn't find my exact problem, but forgive me if I missed it.

Anyways, I HAVE gotten launch control to work in my car before (when I first got it back in June), but am recently having problems using it.

So, I hit that button twice, put it in competition mode while the car is not moving, put it in first gear, floor it and dump the clutch, correct?

Well, when it works, the RPMs hover around 4-5k (?) I believe.

But recently it will just red line, making it so the ass end kicks out when I launch it (yikes).

Has anyone else had this problem, or has it been addressed?

I have heard rumors that having it in "competitive mode" is supposed to optimize your RPMs... but my car's optimum launch seems to be around 7k RPM if it's working. All that pushing the button twice has ever done for me is limit the rear wheel slippage on takeoff.

I've found that if you push the pedal to the floor slowly it will not recognize launch control and simply rev to redline. When I mash the pedal fast, it holds at around 4600 rpm.

This is the issue when using launch control, you have to put the pedal to the floor in order for it to limit the rpm's, if you do it slowly it wont recognize this and wont engage the launch control

All the magazines said they got better times without launch control and launch control has been helping blow apart transmissions. If #230 was a LS3 I would not use launch control, but thats just me.

Where does the engine get ~4600rpm for an optimum launch? Launching at 3k I still get a bit too much wheel spin on some surfaces... 4k+ is just for leaving pretty black lines on the pavement, and wreaking havoc on your drivetrain.

I used Launch Control at the local strip, and I still got tons of wheelspin, I found that launching at about 2700 RPM, then proceeding to hold the gas pedal about 3/4 of the way down for about a second before you completely floor it was working the best for me
