Lightbulb Which H-Pipe??

Hey guys. So I'll be getting my Camaro SS soon and the first mod will be the exhaust. I have decided on striaght pipes. I am also doing a resonator delete.

Originally I was gonna get the magnaflow X-Pipe to replace the resonators with. But I have been reading that the H-Pipe sounds a lot more like a muscle car, while the X-pipe is more of a sporty sound. I would go straight pipes all the way (resonator and mufflers) but I heard that causes a very noticeable decrease in performance.

My question is, what type of h-pipe do you guys recommend?

Mid pipes From the cats back would be considered the h pipe. It has a pipe that ties the two together looking like an h. verses them being bent and them meeting then seperating looking like and x. I as well have the stock mids (h pipe). I cut off the mufflers as well.i like the h pipe Better it gives it a deeper sound not the raspy Mustang sound. .... my opinion. .....

Performance wise a X will always be better and actually should give a smother sound to the car. A X pipe will pull the next beat from the car and assist the exhaust flow. But the stock Camaro comes with an H so I don't know why you would want another. And to answer your question you can actually loose power from a straight pipe. By straight piping a car you remove some of its back pressure which can ruin your torq

after i read threads talking about Xpipe vs Hpipe .. i found this :

Xpipe works better if u want to go for high preformance or stroker like supercharge cams..
Hpipe works better if ur target is just headers and CAI..

and if u go with xpipe and u only have stock engine with headers u gonna lose the prusser frome the engine and the Hpipe doing well and good prusser for u with stock engine..

found this can help : http://youtu.be/Y0Va3sDhqwI

i have magnaflow catback xpipe and the sound is very deep , that not mean the magnaflow is bad ; personally magna is best soud i found and it's gives nice tone with a headers..

sorry if my explaning is not very clear

My personal opinion is to go with a 3" car back exhaust. It has the x-pipe, and the diameter, plus the mufflers will give it a deep and loud sound. SW retro chambered catback is loud and deep, and it doesn't have the drone of a muffler delete. It's a bit quiet with stock cats, but add headers and hi flows, and you will have a great sounding car.

I've read up on it, and the stock H pipe is supposedly perfect, put it in the exact same spot cause there's no room for improvement

Yeah like others have said, a muffler will give you the muscle car sound your looking for. An X or H pipe won't do much for tone, they are there to balance the exhaust flow and improve power. An X pipe is known to have a more appealing sound and better power between the 2. My opinion is that H pipes are cheaper to manufacture which is why we usually see them in stock setups.

i don't have idea about Hpipes types ..

if u already going to delete ur stock resonator with straight pipes i would say save ur money and go for LT headers and HF cats and keep the stock exhaust , if u like the sound thats good (i'm sure u'll) and if u don't get axle back , also stay with stock pipe..
if u want to keep the waranty , just delete the resonator and get the magnaflow axle back if like it..
