I need the least expensive fix, unfortunatley I spent a lot of money getting the car to me and getting past the red tape here in Ca.

Well.. the cheapest way out is to find a few pistons and just replace them or I saw an Ls3 short for $3800 in the for sale section.. I'd offer him $2000... about all that short is worth really and start from there... Your looking at about $4600 for a precision 416 shortblock built from us... ort like I said find a few used pistons and just replace what you have to get it running...

Ok if the piston contacts the valve that means that there is a gap somewhere in the valve train or it is improperly set up. The gap is usually between the rocker and the pushrod. If the piston hits the valve it will just close the gap, not bending rod. The forces in doing that are soooo great the vavle will be toast. The way people bend rods have nothing to do with piston collisions. It is simply a force problem with accelerating the valve so fast the force to push it and the spring down over exceeds the force limitiations of the rod. Stronger rods will never hurt anything in the short run.

I'd choke the shit out of your friend til he came up with 1/2 at least of what it is going to cost you. Only because you should never let others use your car. I hope he is a friend and admits to his mistakes and is helping you with the rebuild.

Good luck.

Does anyone know if the ls7 would be a good replacement and if the intake manifolds are the same? I dont want to get it if the blower will not fit

No Ls7 has different heads, you can prObably put your heads on an ls7 block but an Ls7 block is not that great on boost. A 416 from CC or TSP or Scoggin are good choices.

i mean its one thing to drive a friends car, but another to drive it hard. i personally have let one of my friends drive my car but he never got on it hard.

but hey you never know, maybe the OP is the one who really did it and doesn't want to sound like a fool or something. i wouldn't doubt it.
