Dreaded month is finally here, what to do?

This is my first winter having the 1LE and this Thursday it's going to be 15 at night, thanks to the polar crap again. I knew it would be coming and it got here way faster than I hoped.

My question, I plan on storing my car in the garage from thur- till monday since that is when it will be back in the 40's again. It will be in the teens thur night and mid-upper 20's the rest of the nights.
The garage is non-heated. Would it be ok to just put some blankets underneath the tires, so the tires are not on the cement floor?

Thanks !

Read the Goodyear bulletin stickied in the tire thread at the top of this forum if you haven't already... the "If the tires have been subject to 20 deg F (-7 deg C) or less, let them warm up in a heated space to at least 40 deg F for 24 hours or more before installation or driving the vehicle" part in particular.

Mine is in storage all winter, I bought a sheet of 1" insulation foam from Home Depot, cut it into 4 pieces and park on that. My garage is also unheated but attached, temps near the car are usually 10 degrees above outside (I keep a thermometer next to the car, just 'cause I was paranoid about the tires cracking the 1st winter I stored it).

I drove through 2 new york winters (sub 20degree weather) quite frequently and never had a problem with my goodyears. Just go easy.

They won't crack just sitting in the cold.

I am not so sure about that. I remember reading something about not driving below 40 degrees and not exposing the tire to below 20 degrees.

I'll be honest. my garage got down to 15 degrees last winter. I didn't move it one time when it was that cold. Usually I move it a few inches to appease my mind on flatspots, but when it was that cold I let it be. Never received any cracks. Now will the same thing happen this year when it does it again? Maybe, maybe not. It's a risk I take. My tires are nearly shot anyways. I read somewhere(don't remember where), to not touch them when it's below 20. So far, it has worked for me.

Guess its how you interpet the bulletin. For me it reads -not recommended for use below 40* and that its recommended to store them above 20*. If they have been below 20* let them warm up.

first post is the bulletin:

Why would Chevy sell a Camaro with tires that cannot be operated at below 40 degrees. The tires will be fine IMO and if not I would take that up with GM.

And if your really worried get ya some tire warmers if your really considering putting blankets under your tires.

You should be just fine. Just make sure they are nicely warmed up to 40 ish as stated before you drive on them. To be honest, I drive mine if it is above or near freezing, the only time I park it is if it is in the 20's, and this is my second winter so far.

I've driven mine when it was 15*...a little slippery but manageable.

Thanks guys, I read the bulletin a few times throughout the year, however when it came time, I still wanted to ask.
I won't be driving again till next Tuesday more than likely, partly b/c I will be out of town. My tires have a few thousand miles left on them so I would like to keep these till the spring at least. I'll probably just put some thick carpet on the floor and park them over it. It's only suppose to be sub-20's tonight. After that it will warm
up gradually.
