Recently sold to Vroom or Carvana

Hey everyone,

I have a 1le on order since April. I accepted the fact that I wont be getting that.

I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a 5th gen 1le on Vroom. I've always wanted a 1le since I saw teaser drawings back in 2011.

Anyone here know these cars posted on vroom/carvana? I'm reaching out to you to get some insight/advice/strategies. I'm obsessive compulsive and I hate buying used cars that are less than perfect. I do not buy if the history has multiple owners, damage or inconsistent or odd/repeated service checks. Also, location: if its in a snow/salt area of the country, I will not buy. I can deal with cosmetic imperfections, but any spec of rust or interior damage, I will not buy. My strategies when looking at Vroom are the break calipers condition, break hubs, wheel well, inside the barrel of the wheels, and any signs in the engine bay that the car was parked outside vs. inside.

I'm insane, but want a 5th gen 1le. lol

thoughts?

Brother I think your expectations are pretty high for a car that’s newest version is 6 years old, you might find a garage queen that some old guy bought an never drove but these also come with their own issues. Good luck on your search.

If you are willing to travel or have the car shipped to you, you will be able to cast a wider net and increase your chances of finding the one you want.
For us on the west side of the US, rust and weather related damage is less common.
So, if your willing to pay shipping or fly out and drive it back home, try looking on the west/south western US if your biggest concern is rust.
Plus with the current used car market, be prepared to pay a premium for a clean, garage kept, low miles example of what will be at least a 6yr old car.

Good luck with your search!

Yes, 100%! You both are right.

So I guess what I was trying to ask is, if you were to buy on Carvana or Vroom, what would you look for in the pics to narrow down a potential buy?

I’d say miles, overall condition, return policy, prior owner mods, and consumables like tires.

I think this is a gem. Good carfax, location, and overall condition is fantastic and super low miles. Little overpriced but not many 5th gens around. I can add all the z28/1le stuff later.

What do you guys see? IS this a safe buy?

To make that car a 1LE clone you will need to spend at least $7K on Recaros and wheels and tires. Then there are the suspension modifications, hood wrap, and the front spoiler.

Most 1LE owners know what they have and they keep the car in great condition, some are road course vehicles, but very few are ragged out.

Keep looking, GM only made 1826 in 2013, 2468 in 2014 and 2737 in 2015.

Found this. Making plans to possibly go see it mid to end of next week. What you guys think or see any concerns?

*Scratch that, it's not original. Has fake z28 wheels in the wrong size. Makes the car look terrible and incorrect. OEM z/28 wheels oh god yes. But not these..

instead may look at this. https://www.bridgewateracura.com/inv...fg1ew8f9121830

Buy private party unless you don’t mind overpaying. These dealers have 1LE marked up to some ridiculous price points. You can still get into a low mileage 1le under $30,000 if you are willing to travel.

Which is another point I guess I would offer. I never understand the logic of wanting a 1 of 4000ish produced cars (one meeting your specific requirements may be under 2000) but then being unwilling to go get it or have it shipped.

Do your homework, get a one way ticket, drive it back. I think I had maybe $400 wrapped up in bringing mine from Chicago back to Pa and had a lot of fun doing it.

Get a one owner low mileage car from a private seller/owner. Hang in there ,wait till you get a deal on what you want . At this point I would hold off and wait until the dealers have new cars in stock and people wanting trade or sell their old car for a new one .Supply and demand will set the price. I sold my 2014 1LE and am regretting it every day . If they ever get to the point they are discounting new 1LE's or C8's Corvettes I am going to grab one . Damn I miss my 1 LE. I am going to wait and pounce when the right deal comes along on a new one or the perfect used one at the RIGHT PRICE.

This may be the last call for high performance pushrod internal combustion V8's . I will wait till the 22's are out to buy a new 1 SS ,6.2/1LE , 10speed auto, Magnaride, Rapid blue . MSRP is about $49000.00, im in at $41000.00 or less.
