mod worth the money?

I'm considering buying the hurst short throw shifter for my 2010 ss and i was wondering if its worth the money. ($173) i dont have experiences with short throws so i was hoping for someone who does to tell me if the buy is worth getting due to performance (quicker gear changes) or due to the feel. I'm also open to suggestions on other short throws or any other similar mods. thank you!
(i also did search the forum for similar threads but not to intensely so please excuse me if there are a ton of other threads based on the same question.)

There's not really a performance benefit. It's all about the feel and personally I favor a pistol grip short throw similar to the 2012-14 challengers.

I have no experience with the Hurst short throw but my MGW shifter was worth every penny of the $350 I spent on it.

The Hurst doesn't replace the whole shifter assembly, just the stick and a few other pieces (again I have no experience) whereas the MGW replaces everything.

Not hard to install either.

I just installed a Hurst. Its definitely worth the money if you also buy brass bushings. The factory shifter sucks balls. The Hurst performs real nice but does make some noise. Its nice a tight. If I had to do it again though I would go with a MGW or a TWM. In a $40,000 car the shifter shouldnt make noise.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

As a last minute decision I installed the Hurst STS when completing my engine mods. It was a ver good decision, very nice shifter and very smooth. I can honestly say I have not experienced the noise others have expressed. The shifter changed the drive of the vehicle.

I've had the hurst for a little over a year its ok , but can
make some noise in the higher revs . If I had to do it over
again I would use the MGW just my 2 cents.

I'm in the 12s with the factory shifter. I don't think it's needed.

MGW. Don't bother with anything else. Nothing compares. The whole shifter gets changes not just the handle.

Its all about preference, there is absolutely a differnce in the throw of the shift. I have the factory Hurst STS, and have driven my buddies MGW STS, I prefer his personally..not nearly as notchy but both are nice.

If I had to pick, MGW or Barton before the hurst...thats personal preference though.

I've got the hurst shifter that came with the car from the factory, I love it. Short smooth shifts, no noise from mine at any rpm.

MGW - the faster you shift the happier this shifter make you. I never miss shifts with it. Can not say that for the stock shifter especially the 2-3 shift.
