what will max first fuel pump / injectors

I am curious in a boosted application will the zl1 pump with adm fpcm or the zr1(52psi) injectors max out first. I belive from what I gather the injectors will be at max duty before the pump is maxed out just want to see if others feel the same way

Injectors will max out first. Im still using the ZR1 pump with a BAP. Had to

upgrade to the ID 850 injectors a while back.

Depends on how much boost you're running. 3.6 pulley and you'll probably be alright. If you pulley to 3.4 you'll be around 9 1/2- 10lbs of boost and will have to oh bigger on injectors.

The injectors will max out before the pump will.

ID 850 injectors will have ALOT more close time and will therefore allow the pump to go a lot further before maxing out. And when it does max out and the pressure starts to trail off, the injectors will be big enough to open more and make up for the pressure and save your motor.

With an Eforce, I made 570 whp on a conservative reading dynojet at 100% duty cycle on the ZR1 injectors. I was running the stock ZL1 pump that came in my 1LE. The fuel pressure was dropping abover 3800 RPM to 44 psi on the top end.

So the answer to your question is a little more complex. The ZL1 fuel pump will run out of flow somewhat as a function of the injectors.

BTW, When making less power, my duty cycle was at 80%, the fuel pressure was still dropping off considerably to 49 psi.

The longer the injector is open the less time the pump has to build or maintain pressure. Analogy: Kind of like trying to build pressure in a water hose with an open end to it.

If you define fuel pump assembly limit (running out) as its inability to maintain the requested pressure, then the ZL1 fuel pump assembly will "run out" before the ZR1 injectors reach 100% duty cycle. (at least on my car)

In my opinion this is the correct definition of running out of pump.

After I added the ADM FPCM and requested 460 KPA of fuel pressure above 3800 RPM and also larger 63# denso injectore(rated at 3 bar), the fuel pressure was able to be bumped up and the pressure will maintain higher in the RPMs. I still am unable to maintain the 460 KPA that is requested, so the pumps flow is less than desired, which means its still the limiting factor and has run out.
