Question about installing subs
I'm looking to buy some subs from ******** soon. I have an LS so I will be getting their package which includes 2 Kicker 10" subs, amp, box, and wiring harness. Ive never installed a system before but have done basic stuff like changing out my speakers in my Explorer and other basic car jobs. How difficult is it to install a sub system? Does this come with instructions etc or is it more for someone who really knows what they're doing? Ever since I got this car the little things I do to it I want to do myself so that I can say I did it. Im just curious as to the challenge level this install would be.
I'm not looking to have deafening bass rattle ALL the time but would instead like to have a nice subtle kick to it when I drive and when needed really have it hit hard. I'm 25 so I'm not trying to go deaf by the time I'm 30 but I would still like to have the bass there when I need it but like I said not all the time. |

the hardest part will be making the connections to the existing wiring harness and the battery. I would definately go for it. How else do you learn?

Have any tips? Does ******** provide any instructions with the kits? How about tuning the amp any tips on that to?? You seem to be more liek me in terms of not wanting the bass to be overwhelming but still be there when you want it.

The ******** box and harness are awesome. I've done my fair share of systems in my days, but this is easily installed, even for a novice. The harness is plug and play into the factory amp, it gives you the RCA's and remote turn on leads. You have to run + & - from the battery, which is already in the trunk, to your amp. Any amp install kit sold at any stereo store or even walmart will give you all the cables and rcas you will need. Just dont forget to put a fuse or breaker on the + lead just past the battery connection and dont run anything with the radio on and you should be fine.

http://********.com/Chevrolet-GMC-Su...ckage-New.html For some reason though, the link doesnt work today (I was just on this page last night) so I cant tell you which harness it is. Steve said this is the one I would need for a stock radio in a LS. Hopefully that link works at some point. |

I didnt think about that, but i would imagine if the standard radio has an amp, hat it would work the same way.
