Yep just took my Subaru in for emissions and they did place a device with mirrors on it under the car. My HC level turned out to be a lil high so the car failed. Md allows a level of 200 or less. My car came out at 238. Gonna get a can of CATACLEAN and hopefully that will work. It's a 22 year old car and the first time i EVER failed the emission test.. That old i shouldn't have to do any more emissions LOL......

I thought MD was a one and done state? Did you just buy it?

I asked the guy at the the veip and he said no cats are no problem as long as it doesn't throw a code

No I bought it a year ago. Every 2 years there's an inspection.

Had to go twice, both times they did a visual check with mirrors. Though I think the guys did it just for job's sake and didn't actually thoroughly inspect.
