Defrost Vent always on.
Anyone else notice even if you have the A/C selected to come out of the floor or just out the vents some still comes out of the defrost vent? It gets to be a problem in real humid weather after a rain, you have to run the wipers to keep the fog cleared off the outside of the window. I think if you select vent only, it should vent only right? Now it's not giant deal breaker just an observation that should be corrected in the next years model.
I don't post this because I'm continuously bashing the car, I post it because if enough people point it out it will be corrected in the next iteration of the car. And don't tell me all cars do it, they don't, I have 4 other cars that are not a problem. |

Haven't noticed that yet on my Camaro, but I have the same problem on an Impala I rented recently. It can be annoying, for sure.

This is one thing we noticed the first evening we got it. It was fogging the windshield and we couldn't get it to stop.

G6 does the same thing, major PITA!! If there is the slightest bit of humidity you either have to run the air or defrost to equalize the temperature of the glass I guess, even if the windows are down.

The A/C being on is what the problem is to begin with, the defrost vent blows cold air out regardless where you have selected the air to exit. To an extent anyway, it never fully closes down. Tonight driving around in the humid damp air the cooling effect on the glass near vent causes condensation to form on the outside of the glass. If the defrost vent would fully shut down it wouldn't be a problem.

I run my A/C to stop the windows from fogging because the A/C also de-humidifies. I just don't set it to max cold mode. Even if you have your temperature set to the 'hot' side of the scale, you can have your A/C on while you do it to use it as a de-humidifier

That's not the problem djsnoflake, the condensation is forming on the outside of the front window because the A/C never stops fully blowing out of the defroster. There's none on the inside. It cools the glass right there and if it's really humid and damp out you get that fog that has to be wiped away with the wipers.

Same problem here, when its in the 70's and the humdity is 89% at night the last thing we need is the cold air hitting the glass all the time. And if you turn the air off or down it is instant sweat.

I have the same problem on my Cavalier but if I take it off max cool (ya know the one with the u shaped arrow at least on my Cavalier it is) the fogging problem disappears. If i remember correctly the reason it does that on max cool is the air within the car is recycled completely and the air is pulled in @ the defrosters then blown back out thru the vents, whereas with any of the other A/C selections the cooled air is a mixture of inside and outside air.

Same problem here, found it helps if you don't use recirculate and and one notch off of max cold

Yeah Bigwood, I forgot about this thread, thanks. That's pretty much the same fix I've found, just a few clicks above total cool side, still cold enough to keep you cool but not cold enough to cause the condensation on the outside of the window.
